The Mary Gunther Chapter of Future Teachers of America was authorized as a 3-A club this year. The twenty-seven members met in Room 3 where they dis- cussed the problems and rewards of a teaching career, he officers were Irene Perez, president; Christy Hor- jasitas, vice president; Millie Moreno, secretary; and Barbara Biebelle, treasurer. Club activities included making posters and book- markers for National Education Week, monitoring the elementary achievement tests, advertising Teacher Edu- cation Week by placing information in the lobby of the school, in Mr. Smith ' s office and in the school newspaper. District meeting was held in Silver City at WNMU where Emily Smith and Martha Holguin were elected treasurer and vice president, respectively. FT,A. Future Nurses of America Make Tray Future Nurses of America held their inita- tion in the auditorium and invited guests. The girls were installed by Lynda Delk, president. Other officers included Orpha Silva, vice president; Jan Miller, correspond- ing secretary; Elaine Cothrun, secretary- treasurer; Dolores Sandoval, historian; and Frances Gomez, reporter. The girls also made tray favors for the patients at Hillcrest Hos- pital. These were delivered during the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays. As a club primarily for students interested in the medical profession, the trip to El Paso proved to be quite worthwhile.
