Well, for a picnic set of witches, these certainly are the most real- istic I have ever seen! exclaimed Beulah, as she drew a little nearer the entrance to the cave. '6They seem almost tooea- - The magic now is here. The vision will appear, interrupted one of the sisters three. Beulah gave a little gasp of surprise. and sank upon the moss- covered rock beside her, for in the mist arising from the cauldron, first faintly seen, then quite clearly, was an exact picture of her old high school. Standing before its entrance was a group of students posing for an all-high-school picture, and before them stood Mr. Tierney, that mod- ern Job. Just as she was about to look more closely for 'individuals among her former school mates, thc scene changed, and Faythe Allphin's face appeared smiling at her, out of the mist. Well, who would believe that Faythe could have changed so much! she exclaimed. Here she is today a nurse in a Red Cross Hos- pital. D0esn't that look just like she used to though, with her serious smile and omnipresent shirt waist and skirt? But who is this appearing in her place? Hershel Kannier, red hair and all, just as he used to be! It seems strange not see his hair all white as it is to-day. But then, ten years can make a lot of difference. Who would have thought when we were Seniors together that he would have developed into an Easl- African missionary? He ought to see this vision. He's here at the Alumni Picnic to-day, home on a leave of absence, but if I called him. he'd talk as usual, then the spell would be broken. Oh, there's Kate Johnson now, and yes, that's Klon with her. He seems to be making a cartoon-his old talent, I believe. To-day, Kate, ex-chief of police in New York City, is winning great renown for daring. and bravery, and Klon has evolved into a great doctor on microbes and germs. Oh, there's Ruth, my old pal! She seems to be whispering to--we yes, sure enough-sto mel VVell, did we really look as young as that when we were in school? To-day Ruth is to be married to a multi- millionaire and is a great society lady. . Beulah, oh Beulahf' called a voice from without the cave. Come on out, you've had you'rc turn. ELMER HORNEY Secretary and Treasurer ,..,,,................ BLANCHE PLUMMER FLOWER: American Beauty Rose. Morro: Love, Labor and Laugh. JUNIOR CLASS HISTORY Oh say! Did I ever tell you of the organization of the Junior class? No? Well, sir, it's just this way: we started into high school with fif- teen Freshmen in the year 1914. As Freshmen we were noted for show- ing the greatest class spirit in school, but our enthusiasm was so great that we failed to elect any class officers and, green being so predominant among the Freshies Kas we were dubbed by the upper classmenj, we thought it best to wait a year before choosing another class color. I never shall forget the day our career as Freshmen ended and we all passed with high honors into the Sophomore class. It was then our hard study came to a close, for as Sophs we were taken into the social whirl of the school and have been in it from that time. One night during that year will never be blotted from my memory. It was the night of the Junior party at the home of Hershel Kannier's. We, being Sophomores, were not invited, so we decided to go anyway. On the way, we were held up by a bandit with a big gun, but being brave and fearless, we turned on more gas and raced past him. After serenad- ing the Juniors for several hours, Jake, Ray, Herbert, and Elmer sang Hallelujah, Give Us a Hand Out, but no one responded to the song, so being discouraged we journeyed back to town. This year, you know, we are Juniors and still have our first char- acteristic of enthusiasm with added class spirit and school Pep. As Juniors we have done our part to keep our high school up to standard along all lines of activity. We are proud to say that we are well repre- sented in athletics, debate and music. For our coming year as Seniors we hope to say that we are- First in enthusiasm, I First in society, and First in the hearts of old Coats High. llllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllIlllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllIlllllllllllllllllllllll llllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllIllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllIllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll lllllllllllllllllllll
