Solar Research Begun at Coastal Solar energy research, a new pro- ject at Coastal Carolina College, received much recognition. The S400,000 solar energy research pro- ject is a study of the practicality of heating and cooling with the sun's energy. Coastal professor Harry Robison of Litchfield Beach is direc- tor of the experiment. Robison believes the solar theories he will study should reach the commercial market in about two years.

Waccamaw Regional Studies ' ' 5 1, , 6 I I X V, ,y.A,- 5 3 A 3 X, ...L 5' f f : P if . ya Q Coastal Carolina is exploring the history and culture of the Waccamaw Region and is rapidly developing into a resource center for information on the area stretching from the North Carolina border through Horry and Georgetown counties to Winyah Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. The new ven- ture, The Waccamaw Regional Studies Project, is funded by a grant from the South Carolina Committee for the Humanities, is a continuing project at Coastal Carolina College. The basic goals of the project are to promote research into the area and to disseminate the information to the public. Historian and folklorist Charles W. Joyner, serves as director of the Waccamaw Regional Studies Project.
