STUDENT COUNCIL The Student Council of Coalten High School held it's first meeting on September ls, 1950, and elect- ed the following officers: Juanita Linger, President Charles Girard, Vice-President Magdalene Silvester, Secretary and Treasurer The Student Council, with the aid of our spon. sor Mr. Martin, has enjoyed a progressive year. We presented four assembly programs. The first program featu ed Mr. David D. Brown On March 9 we sponsored and ments when the West Virgini presented the one-act play, the supervision of Mr. John R III as guest speaker. tork care of all arrange- Wesleyan Dramatic Club, Miss Tillies Begg, under Shaver. In January we presented a Korean war veteran who spoke to the student body on the war situation in the Far East. Sergeant Pratt showed a film illustrating the veteran's talk. In April we handled the details necessary for presentation of the West Virginia Business College assembly. In May we sponsored the May Carnival at which time we raised a sizeable sum of money for general slhool expenses. Other importfnt Student Council activities in- eluded: Cl? C21 Supervision of school assembly programs. fel Improvement of noon hour entertainment C J Improvtment of ping-pong playing facilities Our spring social plans include a picnic yet to be planned in detail.
