7.8onAnrs-1947 First we say 'hats off to a fine school year and to the faculty who made it possible.' Thirty-one strong, the 7 - 8 grade class descended upon Coalton High School in the fall of 1946. The stormy road ahead could not be seen by even the visionary, and it is just as well, for a 'few fell by the wayside.' The task of directing this group fell to Mr. Subs, our Varsity athletic coach. The officers in- cluded Bill Goddin, president: Charles Girard, vice-president: Ronald Jones, secretary-treas- urer: Betty Travis, program chairman: Anita Demotto, cheer-leader. The activities of the year were sponsoring a girls' and boys' basketball team: a tureen supper: participation in the class basketball tournament: assembly program: exchanging of Christmas gifts and valentine greetings. One m ber, Bill Goddin, was honored with member- ship in the student council: Anita Demotto was honored by being elected assistant cheer-Iader for the school. Every member of the class was active in the What Virginia Club. The big and final activity was a picnic and hike the day be fore graduation. Thus MayQl947 marks another milestone in the lives of the members of this class - a class living in a world at least at peace with mankind. We the 7 - 8 grade else of Coalton High School want to thank Mr. Goddin, and our teachers for the help they have given u8o
