Longfellow i As we depart from Coalmont High School we leave behind a pattern of footprints representing our success, our disappointments, our pleasures, and our hardships. The pattern of each is significant and remains forever a part of the school. Like footprints our experiences here leave an indelible impression upon our memories which we will Carry throughout our lives . Looking back over the school year '58 - '59 we see Mr. Miller greeting first grader Billy Neal as he enters Coalmont. -2 -l P .......1 I 4 DEDlcA'rloN ,,,,,...----vw' f fP'!fvr' 1iiffvyE gq'?-5321? rm, if w Dedication For their appreciation of our limitations and failings, as well as our inspirations and triumphs, for their willingness to be where we were and to do what we were doing, for their patient endurance of our foolish whims and their ready praise for our worthier endeavors and for their willing loan of priceless experiences, we, the class of 1959, proudly dedicate this, our Yearbook, to our PARENTS and Teachers. E Let's Meet The Seniors Let's meet B111 Ray, a gay young blade, Cardinal Basketball King was made: With Rinda Anthony as the Queen sublime, Will reign through the season of '58 and '59. Here is a girl, Shirley Crist by name, Wherever you see her she is always the same: Itrselems that her prime objective in life, Is to make some man a very good wife. A courteous, dark haired, handsome lad, Whose transportation to school is a light gray Cad. 7 H. A. Siepman is his name by jigger. A boy who is always interested in a cute figure. A pert young miss named Shirley Hubbell, A quiet serious girl causing no trouble: Works in the office obeying every command, Also plays the Bell-Lyre in the high school band. Robert Hunter a 6' 2 likable guy, On the basketball floor, sure can jump high: As Captain of the 1959 Basketball team, Was chosen to crown the Cardinal Queen. Carolyn Miller isthe next young miss in line, A trim young lady, both courteous and kind: Goes about her business without any fuss, Does her work because she wants too, not because she must Linda West, a gal who is never alone, You will always find her with her pal, Maloney When you see one you always see the other, Always looking around to find someone to bother. Mildred Fagg, called Mickey by some, To our school from Glenn did come: The work of her class she is always willing to share, With the problems of her classmates she is always fair. Karl Johnson is the next Senior for you to meet, A lad who never can be found in his seat: Alone in the library he likes to be, Por he is a studious guy as you can see. Next we meet a nice guy, Sherman Reed, A pleasant, friendly, redhead yes, indeedp His ambition is to enter the University of Purdue, Maybe one day he will appear in the Book of Who's Who. After graduation Rea Clark to Franklin College will go, To prepare herself to make a lot of dough, This year, Senior Cheerleader, she was elected, An honor which to her classmates was not unexpected. Alan Ellis, efficient manager of our Athletic team-s, Does his duties well and on time it seems: His only worry is when he borrows his Dad's Pontiac, Is to get it back home on time and intact. Barbara'Griffith, to know her is a treat, ,She has a pleasing personality so charming and sweety She has no illusion of -grandeur or fame, All Barbara wants is to be a verv married dame. e v f ,im Ioan Griffith, a very charming girl, Has decided to give professional modeling a whirl: She will enroll in Particia Steven's School of Fashion, Where she will get to put her charms and ability in action. Forrest Miller, Iohnny to his friends: A sensible guy who does not burn the candle at both ends: With his pal Bill he loves to hunt, In baseball, he would rather hit than bunt. Now we introduce to you Brenda Hill If she promises to do anything she will: In the summer she follows the fairs to show Her fine Red Polled cattle which must look just so. Iudy Nelson is the next Senior to meet, An efficient librarian she is hard to beat: She came to us from Hymera way, We certainly are happy she decided to stay. Dale Shidler, Drum Major of the band, When he makes up his mind to do something, he can: For his transportation he uses a 1956 Chevrolet, Which he enjoys driving by night and by day. Next boy to meet is Robert Martindale, Who on life's pathway is ready to set sail: Twelve years at Coalmont School he spent, Preparing himself for life's problems of food and rent. Martha Duling, a lovely lass with eyes of brown, Who certainly enjoys having Charlie around: With a ready smile and dimples so cute, She radiates personality from her head to her boot. Next we see Charlie Samm waiting for Miss Duling, We wonder who, after marriage, will do the ruling: Charlie is a man who knows what he wants, And works toward that end regardless of taunts. Ankle bone attached to leg bone, leg bone attached to thigh bone, Always singing, always happy is our own Hazel Malone: Give me the beat! don't need no words! don't need no tune! Thank goodness from school I'll be graduated soon. I am glad and also sad that graduation is near, Thoughts of leaving dear old Coalmont brings a tear: Are the remarks that our classmate, Ianet Burger, did say, When advised that the end of her school days was not far away. Last, but not least, on the roster of our class, Is Linda Rehmel, a quiet and friendly young lass: Who tends to her own business, bothering no one, Getting all she can out of school, including some fun. To Mr. Miller, Principal of our school, If we have caused any trouble or broken any rule: We would like to apologize before it is to late, Because, as you see, we are about to graduate. This poem wouldn't be complete without giving credit due To our sponsors, Mrs. Connor and Mr. Kramer too: Without whose guidance and use of the whip, We would not have been able to take our class trip. There are happy and sad memories for each of us as we look back. The end of the year is a time for the Freshman to look forward to September and to enter High School for the first time. For the Sophomore it is just another summer vacation to anticipate. The Junior sees it as his last summer vacation while still a student at Coalmont. For the Senior it is a final good-bye. For all it is the end of another year. A- L 4- t. 10 , -Baer- ,, I, 2, X , lf I' 1 , A v F'-' , . 1 4: -.1 I 1 1 va E A' ' . 1. , r 3 1 Q 1 f 1 g Q
