credit upon themselves, their class and their school, by playing a bang-up game through- out the entire season. Especially notable was the work of Tokarczyk and Harb. Not only did they succeed in making the varsity in their Sophomore year but have played a good, consistent, game throughout their school careers. ln basketball, Tokarczyk and Bitsko were our two representatives on the varsity squad. They acquitted themselves creditably and have been twin towers of strength on the squad ever since. ln our Junior year we really went to town, with the result that our influence in school affairs was much more keenly felt. In addition to Tokarczyk and Harb, our representatives on the football squad were, Zlock, Richards, Katchak, Puschak and Ganga- ware. These boys participated in one of Coaldale High SchooI's most successful grid- iron season. In basketball too, we were more com- pletely represented by the fact that Bartal made the squad, in addition to Tokarczyk and Bitsko. Our Junior Prom was a great success. More than three hundred persons danced to the music of Os Werley on the evening of May 29. Not only was the' dance a social success but a substantial contribution was made to our class treasury. However, it was during this, our last year, that we really felt as if we had devel- oped fully our latent powers. ln our Senior year, of course, our class came into the full bloom of its potential capabilities. In addition to those before mentioned, Johnson and Andel also made the football team and performed distinctively. ln basketball, Zlock, Polischak, Andel and Johnson gained places on the squad, in addition to those who played during previous years. They made a valuable contribution to the success of our team. At the first class meeting of our Senior year, we elected offcers, adopted our budget, and agreed to sponsor the l942 Stentor, the staff of which had been elected the previous year. Because of the postponed opening of school, lthe result of the polio epidemicl several of our planned activities were curtailed. This was true of our autumn dance. However, once school was under way, an accellerated program of classes and all activities kept each and everyone of us extremely busy. Football games were held more frequently, class assignments were stepped up and school work generally proceeded at a more rapid pace than usual. Our classmates who were in the band were especially enthused about the new military uniforms purchased for their organi- zation. However, this enthusiasm spread to the entire student body and community when the band appeared at the Lansford game in their natty orange and black regalia. Our play, The Tin Hero, was a very successfull production. The auditorium was filled to capacity, with a crowd of enthusi- astic lovers of the drama. The play was also more successful than usual, financially. While only lOO of us remain to gradu- ate, we are determined that we shall repay our nation and community for the training we have received. We shall serve our nation in any position to which we may be called.
