Il 0 those who so willingly devoted their time and efforts in planning the activities of the Senior Class, We extend our appreciation. We, the Si:NIoR CLASS UF 1945, wish to express our gratitude to: MR. ,I. SIMMONDS, our financial adviser, for the splendid co-oper- ation which he has given to us, in all class activities. MR. J. MCCORMICK We extend our sincere appreciation for help- ing to make our's a successful year. 70 WILL WORK TOGETHER TO PRESERVE OUR FREEDOMS AND PRAY FOR PEACE FOREVER 'A' 'A' 'A' 'A' 'Ir 'Ir ir i' 'A' i' 'A' 'A' ir ir 'k i' 'A' ir DEDICATI E, the Class of 1945, dedicate this book to the boys of our Class who are serving with the armed services at home and abroad. Our 1110111- ories are happy ones as we think of them not only as soldiers, sailors, and marines, but as our classmates, carefree and untouched by the hor- rors of war. They have changed from these carefree boys to men of courage, ready to face whatever may come, with strength and endur- ance. lt is with undying gratitude we express our appreciation to them as they fight and sac- rifice to preserve the freedom we have always known. Exalted hence, and drunk with secret oy, Their young succession all their cares employ, 'lihey breed, they brood, instruct and educate, And make provision for the future state. DRYDEN. WOR!-HIGH usxl GMGER UZ ZHNESKI Varsity Basleetball The Purple Demons of C. T., in closing their 1944-45 basketball cam- paign with twelve victories and seven losses, brought about their most suc- cessful season in seven years. 1 The Demons started their season December 12, 1944, with an impressive triumph over the Blue Devils of Shenandoah, 50-27, and continued with five consecutive wins before Shamokin High ended the victory spree with a 46-30 setback. Not to be daunted, the proteges of Coach Joseph Kurtz registered two more wins before tasting defeat at the hands of Kulpmont, Conyngham and Hazleton High Schools. Hitting the win column again, the Kurtzmen buried lVlt. Carmel Township under a 42-17 count, but again lost to Conyng- ham, Shamokin, and Kulpmont High. Closing their season February 27, the Demons sent the lron Men of Danville home on the short end of a 49-43 COl11'1t . I .1 Standing, Left to Right-J. Evans 1Student Managerj, D. Long, J. Pasco, B. The second group made up of Pulaski High players won four of live league games, losing to Shamokin High away. Winning nine of ten league games placed C. T. H. S., J. V.'s on the top of the J. I t, N52 f Za 33. egjffi 'C ass Prop ecy Looking into the crystal, the gypsy princess Char- maine has the following prediction to make concern- ing the future of the graduating class of nineteen hundred and forty-five. First, she sees for two of our number, Lila Thomas and Kenneth Wert, a small cottage and many friends. The same for Ben Reynolds and Peg. A profession of nursing for many in our class is foreseen. The gypsy mentions these-Walburn, Ad- zema, Folger, and Brown. Patience and pity have their patients found. Gilger as a famous artist is seeng Pogozelski a writer of sportsg Phil Krebs becomes a singer fairg Meiser, a musician rare. The crystal ball now dims-then clears to show Donlan governor of state and his secretary, Koltalo, who keeps his records straight. District Attorney Kanowicz tries all cases while Policeman Zaneski sees that order is kept. Goguts, a lawyer of great ability, defends his numerous clients. Aa we speak of travels, our gypsy sees Baranoski as a salesman roaming o'er the countrysideg movie queen Siegfried on personal appearance tours is always on the moveg Johnny Ferentz crosses the country on super railways-he is a conductor-you see. Bill Miner, an explorer and hunter, has many interesting experiences. The Princess gazes long-then speaks of Preacher Elwood Heiser and Public Speaker Kurtz. She also sees Lee Thomas a dentist caring for our teeth and Doctor Hessler tending to our ills. As for Clara Jennis, she writes our latest best sellers. Koback, the wife of a college professor, is no longer absent- minded. The crystal shows in the sports field Alma Boleski excclling as a gym instructress, and basketball coach John Worhach with all winning teams. Harold Wert- man, Tony Smudzin, and 'Dan Marshallick are gain- ing much fame in the game of football. Jeep,' will fly a transport plane Across the ocean blue And with Betty Marcinek as hostess You'd be airsick, too. A career in the Navy is to be had by Robel and Vesseliza. High-ranking officers are they. Margaret Herb, a great Met star, autographs play- boy Heckert's card. Wahosky and Barni will do well in the theatrical field. Daniel Drill in his off hours as a mechanic becomes a sports announcer of remarkable ability. Princess Charmine tells here of a college career for Mary Cathryn Burnsg for Louise Kanaskie, a trip lo the Middle Westg for Virginia Coates much joy as head of a nursery. For Xenia Mausley she sees a dark-haired man. Beware, he has intentions of mar- riage! For all the class of forty-five success and happiness to come is what Charmaine foretells. The images in the crystal ball now fade and we bid our friend farewell. We are abt taught ir, Education alone can conduct us to that enjoyment which is at once, best in quality and infinite in quantity. and guided by our leaders l' ..f ' 5 d 4 D. T.
