Film - 'Ag I '- 1- 1 - Fifi' Tk-4 Y , Five years ago last September a group of frightened, anxious boys and girls gathered for their first year in high school G day seemed far away then, but now that the time for the part ing of the ways has come, we recall the happy days we have spent together Of the original group, seven have stuck together to the end These are Alice Mooney, Betty West, Betty Brasel, Billy Joe Armstrong, Harold Hurst, Ransy Ferguson, and Bentely Yates The highlight of that first year, the seventh grade, was our winning the Halloween Queen contest Sally Sue Adams was our canditate That year Neil Kinny was our sponsor In the eighth grade Neil was sgair our sponsor That year we lost two of our number, Sally Sue Adams and Russell Dean Walker The highlight of the year was our class Dlcric to Silver Bridge Our freshman year was uneventful W E Green was our sponsor That year we lost Georgia Steele and Earlene Bowman but took on Billy Gardner, who hailed from Oklahoma Billy has remained with us the rest of the way Martha Magee joined our band in our sophomore year spent an uneventful year with L N Gaines as our sponsor Our Junior gear was filled with activities That year Mrs Pauline Wall was our sponsor Our first major project was Our class did a play, Madness in Triple Time We netted a tidy sum for our class trip On christmas we had a party at the home of our sponsor In the spring of that year we gave a play, 'Llghts Out wa also entertained the seniors with a banquet in the Home Economics Cottage The highlight of our Junior year was our trip to Rockaway Beach, Eureka Springs, and Fayetteville That year we lost Earlene Doss who married Martha Magee also married, but came on to school as Mrs Yates In our senior year there are nine in our group, since we lost Dorald Hurst We have Mre Wall as our sponsor We have chosen a farce, HAunt Bessie Beats the Bandn as our class pl y We are looking forward to Graduation ard our class trip Though we are small in number, we have made ourselves known around CHHS we leave a good scholastic record, and most of us participate: in the school athletics Betty Brasel was named on the All District basketball team and both she and Alice Mooney represented our class on the team that went to the State Tournament Most of the rembers of our class were named in Who's who we leave CHHS with these and many other pleasant memories Q4-ECE ' A 9 . N A I O O a . pwpiecq We, the graduating seniors of the class of 1953, decided that before we part company to go our separate ways, we would pay a visit to the great Swami Mahavira to acertain what the future holds for each of us At first the great Swami was reluctant to reveal the future to all the group but upon our insistence he consented to look Said the Swami 'It is the corner in New York Gity A man It is Mr A H Metcalf and Mrs time the two have met since the Coal Hill As the vision comes ing They are reriniseing over class of 1953, at good old CHHS into his crystal ball for us year 1970 I see a busy street and woman come into view Yes' Pauline Wall It is the first spring of 1955, when both left clearer, I can hear them speak their experiences with the Mr Metcalf retired from the teaching profession and is engaged in publishing text books Mrs Wall is teaching English Literature at Columbia Unlversity Here comes a newsboy Mr Metcalf buys a paper, and our old friends are surprised to see banner headlines announcing the appearance of Billy Joe Armstrong and his Wworld Famous Hillbilly Bandn at the Copa Club Turning through the paper they see a picture of Miss Betty Brasel Below the picture is a story of the recent pub lication of her book, nThe Satisfaction of Being a Bachelor Girl Miss Bresel states that she had decided to live alone and like it, and to devote her life to writing books Yates, whose ambition was to become a big league ball player He got as far as St Louis and there he married and now he has a baseball team all of his own As Mrs and continue Hotel dining Gardner, the of Arkansas, line of gab, Wall and Mr Metcalf have decided to have lunch their conversatlon, they are entering the Statler room Much to their surprise they see Governor former Billy Gardner, who has become the Governor not through his intelligence, but through his and his secretary Mrs Martha Yates Martha says that since Bill bought a farm near Little Rock he doesn't mind her working Governor Gardner tells them that Harold Hurst has gotten his degree in Agriculture and now has a large farm near Alma where he raises Brahma bulls for rodeo performances As Mrs Wall and Mr Metcalf finish lunch and continur to look over the city, Mrs wall asks about Alice Mooney M Metcalf said that shortly after graduation Alice went to Wash ington D C to work with the F B I She is now married and she and her husband live in a beautiful home near Washington They are the parents of four lovely children SJSU .Il b Mrs. wall says that she was in St. Louis and saw Bentely . .. . r. as few j Q, V W Both Mrs. Wall and Mr. Metcalf are surprised to know that Ransy Ferguson is in Hollywood producing the film WArkansas Cowboy.N This is his first production but he has starred in several films.
