This definition of a good school implies a definite purpose for coming to- gether. This purpose , I believe, is manifested in all of you. Coahoma has a good school because it has a good student body and a good faculty, all working for one purpose, ' To educate themselves and others ' . I congratulate you and thank you for the fine spirit of cooperation you have given the faculty, and for the good conduct that has characterized your group during the present year. It is this splendid spirit of cooperation, and desire you have for an education, that makes you and your teachers and your other friends happy. I believe it is the aspiration of every faculty member in our system, that The Coahoma School should be one of the best, though not the largest in the State. I am sure you share with them in that desire, and will do your best to make it the best. I want to congratulate the annual staff and the sponsor for the splendid work they have done on this yearbook for us. They should derive much joy and satisfaction from such a job well done. It is an ex- cellent job. I am sure this book will help each of you to retain pleasant memories that might otherwise be forgotten. Mywishfor you is that memories of your Coahoma School Days shall always be pleasant. May the training you receive here help you to live a fruitful, happy life, and bring joy and happiness to others, as you journey through life. ? . Sponsored By Earl Reid ' s Coahoma, Texas P Uvclp,aU r MeAAatfel The free public school is the instrument of ' equal- ity of opportunity ' guaranteed to everyone by the con- stitution of the United States. This does not mean that federal government will guarantee you an education, only that you will have a chance to learn as much as your desires and abilities will allow. The faculty of your school has endeavored to the best of their abilities to present you with this ' oppor- tunity ' . To those of you, who have applied yourselves, ' well done ' ; to those who have not, resolve to mend your ways, and take advantage of the priviledge that is yours. The time is approaching, when you must make your ownway in the world that will demand the best of you. My wish is that we will have been of some help to each of you in meeting and solving a part of your prob- lems. Sincerely yours Wd,.W o _ It is with great pleasure that I take this opportunity to talk to the boys and girls of Coahoma Grade School. First, I want to tell you that I think you are a grand group of child- ren, and I love everyone of you. You have de- veloped a wonderful spirit of obedience and cooperation and I appreciate it. If I were to advise you, that advice would be to play hard and study hard while you are in school and take every advantage of the opportunities of- fered you. You do not realize it now, but you are going through the happiest period of your life. Now is the time to develop those habits of right that will follow you through the rest of your life. My sincere wish for you is this: May your life be one of happiness and success. If you have any adversities , may you always be brave and be able to overcome them. REVIEW OF FOOTBALL SEASON: The Bulldogs did not have the most successful season in their history, but the physically able were in there fighting all the way! In the season ' s opener, we lost to Clyde by a score of 19 to 13 in a game that could have gone either way. We won the next two from Abilene B and Stanton by scores of 19 to 13 and 1 9 to 7 respectively. We lost to Big SpringB 6 to 0. We should have had that one, but it was an off night. Injuries then began to plague us ! Wolf breaks his leg; Shive, not to be outdone, breaks his; Dick- sonhurts his ankle; Minchew, his shoulder; Echols, his leg; Cathey develops charlie horses; Sheedy has a siege of Pneumonia--just to mention a few. We lost to Hermleigh 40 to 0! to Sweetwater B 20 to 7, and to Seagraves 34 to 19. Then, we wake up and defeat Bronte 13 to 7 and Loraine 19 to 0. In the final game, we lost a heartbreaker to Robert Lee 7 to 6. Taken as a whole, the record is pretty good; much credit should be given to our boys and coaches for the fine job they did, when they weren ' t on crutches !
