5 'xxx Dr. McKinley C. Martin On this Fiftieth Anniversary of Agricultural High School and Twenty-fifth Anniversary of Coahoma Jun- ior College , the 1974 Coahoman Staff sought and found an individual who had his roots deep in the soil of Agricultural High School and Coahoma Junior College. We are proud to honor one who came to us poor in worldly goods, but richly endowed with enthusiasm , interest, ambition and academic potential. We honor one who took the best of Agricultural High School and made it better: one who justifies the establishment of Coahoma Junior College as a Poor Man's Col- lege for development of human and natural resources and participation in contemporary society. Beloved honoree, you excelled as a student at A.H.S. and C.J.C.: went on to a State Senior College and made an outstanding record: came back to your Alma Mater and served as Principal of Sandy Bayou, Registrar and Education teacher of Coahoma Junior College. But your ambition to make the best education you had better, caused you to leave us and seek further education. You succeeded in earning the highest degree possible - the Ph. D. from an outstanding University. With this educational and professional bargaining power you could have named your figure and gone to a larger institution, but you chose to return to your Alma Mater and render sacrificial service and help to give young men, women and adults the spark needed to continue their education and develop into the best human beings possible. Because you are a real Coahoman and represent the true spirit of Coahoma Junior College and Agricul- :ural High School: because you work wherever you are needed and prove that success comes before work only in the dictionary: because you are still humble and likeable despite your skill and academic accom- plishment, we dedicate this 1974 Anniversary issue of THE COAHOMAN to you, Dr. McKinley C. Mar- tin, our alumnus, co-sponsor, teacher, administrator and friend.
