In Memoriam 669515 , - L, ki' if F1 ' -N Mr. Marion de'Macio Reid was born on April 24, 1907 in the Sherard Community. His parents were Mr. Frank and Mrs. Rosa Reid. Mr. Reid graduated from Jackson State College in 1929 and returned to Coahoma County to man- age his father's farm. He successfully operated the farm until 1960. In the school session of 1960-61, Mr. Reid joined the faculty at C.J.C. as a social science instruc tor. In 1968, he succeeded Mr. McKinley C, Martin as registrar of C.J. C. He served in this position for three years. Mr. Reid was responsible for the first computerized registration scheduling at C.J. C. He also did great work to make the registration system at C .J . C. as highly reorganized and appreciated as any other system of registration in Mississippi. Mr. Reid was a member of the First Baptist Church where he served as a urustee. He served as secretary of the Masonic Lodge for a number of years. The students' feelings toward Mr. Reid were expressed by Jerry Young in the Memorial Services at C.J. C. on November 4. Young said, Let us be sorrowful and sad, let us look to God for help and strive to pay our debts to God and society as he did. When we look at his life we can rejoice, for death is only a dream. Funeral services for Mr. Reid were Saturday, Nov. 6, at the First Baptist Church. Burial followed at the Heavenly Rest Cemetery. Mr. Reid will never be forgotton by any of the Coahomans. The things he stood for will be ever- lasting and eternal. To show their love and respect for Mr. Reid the students dedicated the 1970 Coahoman to him while he lived and dedicated the December issue of The Coahoma Tribune to his memory.
