yjfeszkzzfis yzpessaye The staff of the 1966-67 Coahoman is to be congratulated for having done an excellent job under difficult circumstances and for having chosen a theme so thoroughly appropri- ate to the spirit of the institution: Coahoma Junior College - Where The Action Is. Action is the doing of something. It is the effecting of an alteration. It is enterprise. It is deeds. It is conduct. It is behavior. Its connotation is that of a continuing process over a period of time rather than that of a single momentary happening or act. Hence, it is the substance which gives rise to the character of men and of the institutions that serve mankind. The actions in which Coahoma Junior College and Agricultural High School has been engaged have cast its image. The demonstrated concern of capable instructors for the in- tellectual growth of their students has given the institution the reputation of being a center of teaching excellence. The cordiality exhibited among students as well as among faculty and staff members has established the institution as a place of friendliness. The success of its athletic teams and its other competitive groups has caused Coahoma to be known as the home of pace setters. Its continually expanding facilities, its enlarged student body, its broadened and enriched curriculum, its strengthened faculty, its constant search for new and better ways to serve - these have made Coahoma a place of growth. The dynamic spirit which pervades the institution portends for it a brighter and a more glorious future. And this shall come to pass, for this is where the action is. James E. Miller, President

W 'V During the February 1966 Board Meeting of the Board of Trustees for Coahoma Junior College and Agricultural High School, Benjamin Franklin McLaurin, Senior submitted his resignation as President of the College he has guided since its conception. Meanwhile, he promised to stay on with the institution in a capacity that would be less taxing. This was a voluntary move dictated by his physical condition at that time. Mr. McLaurin has been more to CoahomaJunior College than an administrator and we believe Coahoma Junior College has been more to the McLaurin family than an educational institution. lt has been a home for Mr. and Mrs. McLaurin and their two, Q25 sons, B. F. McLaurin, Jr., Baby Mac , and Johnny McLaurin. The McLaurin children were always campus favorites. They made so many feel so close to the McLaurin family. In fact it has been a campus family for all of us as both Mr. and Mrs. McLaurin have taken a parental interest in students and provided them with everything from food and cash money to items of clothing. Aside from Mr. McLaurin's attainments as a school administrator, he has proven to be a successful businessman and a true friend of the community. The above is attested by the fact that he was chosen as a member of the Clarksdale Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Executive Committee of the local Community Action Program.
