For The TirsT game of This season, The Arkansas STaTe Champions of Miller High School, Helen, Arkansas risked Their TiTle 'To play The Tigers. They were deTeaTed I3-I2 as Joe Allen caughT a Helena pass in The end zone and raced sevenTy yards Tor a Touchdown. Aggie spanked Coleman High, a member oT The Big EighT Comference, Green- ville, Mississippi by score I3-6. The longesT pass oT The season was made by ClayTon Love which was caughT by Emery Harris. Bolivar CounTy Training School oT Mound Bayou, Mississippi was slapped as The Tigers piled up The scores 32-O. Jimmie Adams compleTed a pass To Lonnie Paige' Tor a Touchdown. Joseph AusTin did a splendid iob of Tackling. The Tigers marched To Amory High School, Amory, Mississippi, bringing back a vicTory-Score 26-O. Charlie McWaine ramshackled The opponenT's line as he sTepped TorTh. Grenada Game-Aggie scored in TirsT halTg Grenada scored in lasT halT making a Tie 6-6. When Harris, Allen, Paige and Hill made ouTsTanding plays. The Homecoming Game was played wiTh George WashingTon Carver High, Tupelo, Mississippi, during a conTinuous downpour oT rain. Jack Brenson, McKinley HiTe were greaT as oTTensive Tacklers. Oliver Ward, JeTT Hicks, Henry BalTimore, George, Charlie McWaine, and Joseph BisseTT were equally greaT on The deTensive. The TleeT TooTed Melvin Tillis sTopped an opponenT Trom scoring in The TirsT guarTer oT The game. The Tigers sTomped and ran over Mary Holmes Junior College, WesT PoinT, Mississippi. The sTeam was up and The Big Train Emery Harris was really rolling. MoTen, The GhosT, seemed To disappear as he zigged and zagged Through The opponenTs line. Kirkmon The Tlash and TleeT TooTed Melvin Tillis were superb. December 5, I947, The Tigers clashed wiTh The Greenwood Bulldogs. Greenwood scored in The TirsT halT. The mighTy Charles Hill, The greaTesT back Tor yardage per Try and TasT Melvin Tillis were clicking. MoTen, HiTe, Brenson, Love, Ward, WrighT, Tillis, Kirkmon, CapT.
