In the second game, Clyde had to settle for a tie after going ahead 12-0 in the first quarter. The DeSales game was played in a sea of mud and water. Against Waterloo, Clyde gave the opponents a 6-0 victory in a close and hard-fought game. After a decisive defeat by Seneca Falls, the Clyde team met Penn Yan and showed more power and spark than in any previous game, as they won 19-6. By this time, the 1956 squad reached its stride as it overpowered its traditional rival. Lyons, and scored at will against Pal-Mac in the final game. The 1955-1956 basketball season ended in 8 wins and 10 defeats. The team started well by win ing seven of nine games. However, a midseason slump proved too great a handicap in the attempt to win the 6 Class A title for the county. Clyde was nosed out of the title in the final game of the season by Marion. Most of the league teams were quite evenly matched--providing spectators with many close scoring games.
