CLASS HISTORY We, the class of 1955, entered upon our educational career in the years 1942-43. We arrived at school to enroll in the kindergarten under the guidance of Miss Weidman. We, being carefree and spirited, gave little thought to the thirteen years ahead. Consequently after thorough teaching of the first seven years, we arrived at Junior High, the gateway to graduation. During the next two grueling years, we passed the exams of the seventh, then eighth grades, under the efforts of Miss Woolston, Miss De.Luca, Mrs. Warren and Miss Hannett. In September 1951, we were delighted to find our high school career opening before us. We launched into our Freshman year, becoming a class and holding class meetings under the direction of Miss Smith. The class officers were: President, Donna Fischette, Vice-President, Alice Brockmyreg Secretary, Pat J enningsg Treasurer. Alice Benning. The next September found us as Sophomores. At least most of us were coming closer and closer to our ultimate goal. We were now under the counselorship of Mrs. Tompkins. Our class officers were, President, Dorothy Harper, Vice-President, Fred Kelseyg Secretary, Alice Brockmyreg Treasurer, Sue Gannett. As activities for this interesting year we sold refreshments and football and basketball pencils at the games. Also we had a food sale to bring in money for the trip. J une rolled around and we were glad to be able to look forward to the big two years of our education. Our class convened September 1953 for ourJunior year. Ohl What a year this wasl Directed by Mr. Holliday and the leadership of Fred Kelsey as President: Vice-President, Lorraine Smith: Secretary, Alice Benning, Treasurer, Sue Gannett, we were tied up in many activities. Some of the most important were the sale of Christmas Cards and the sale of refreshments at games. Our biggest event was the Graduation Ball , closing a very successful and spirited year onJune 25, 1954. Heigh-hol Senior Class! Well, what do you knowl It's 1955! We came together in Sepg tember 1954, full of hopes of a very delightful and enlightening year - guided by the subtle counseling of Mr. Kennedy and Mr. Dudley. The class officers of the final year were, President, Donald Hallg Vice-President, Fred Kelsey: Secretary, Bettye Suttong and Treasurer, Sue Gannett. We raised money for our trip to New York City by selling magazine subscriptions. The class produced a superb Senior Sno-Ball December 29, 1954. The big occasion was topped by the choosing of the king and queen with attendants. They were Donald Hall and Donna Fischette with Emaline Haskell, Janice Gill, Fred Kelsey and Franklin Sherman. As another endeavor the Senior Play was put on in April 1955 under the direction of Mr. English. On our New York trip at Easter Vacation, we had a good time seeing the sights, guided by Van Zile Tours and chaperoned by Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Estes and Mr. and Mrs. Di Renzo. As we marched down the aisle for Graduation, our memories were full of the good times and dear friends we had in good old C.C.S. we must ever, ever keep our eyes front and gain the stairway to success. This we all know the Senior Class of 1955 can surely do. 21
