S S ygzude P 'UN To the Student Body: The Senior High School of Clovis is to be commended on the growth and progress during the past fifty years in which many students have benefited from the training and skills that have been taught by the educational system. As the citizens reflect back over the past fifty years and review the progress of eastern New Mexico, the Senior High School has been a definite part of this progress and growth. As the students and citizens look at the former site of the Senior High School, the Sears building at 7th and Main, and then take a glance at the Senior High School at North Thornton, this is an indica- tion that progress is still marching forward for the next fifty years. With a population of some 33,- 000 citizens, a school population of approximately 6,000 students, and a future that is unlimited, then the next fifty years will be one of true growth which is based upon the past fifty years. Thus the Clovis Schools join with the staff of the Plainsman in commemorating and giving sincere thanks to the pioneers of Curry County for the past and saying to the pioneers of the future, May you ever progress in your destiny with the best educational standards that can be offered by the Sen- ior High Schoolf, Sincerely yours, TRAVIS STOVALL

Fzzdaclpal 71-nga WQJS W-I 1, gi, ,, i. . I 5 J 4,,,,.,-,?.Q. ' lf si... To the students of Clovis High School: Over the past five decades Clovis pioneers have been able to view with pride and interest the City's transition from the wagon track and dirt street era to jet age vapor trails. ln this upsurge of industry and population which Clovis has experienced during the past 50 years the public school system has not been left behind. In steady metamorphis the original single-building school has evolved into our present educational program with its functional design, diversified curriculum and modern physical plant. Through the years, progressive-minded taxpayers, school boards and educators have worked without cessation to develop a plan which would most fully meet the educational needs of the youthful citizens of Clovis. For many years, the high school at 7th and Main fulfilled this purpose admirably and more than a generation of Clovis students graduated there. However, passing years and mushrooming student population made continued use of those facilities unfeasible and the five-year plan in educational building for Clovis was put into orbit. The result of this plan is our present institution which commands respect and admiration throughout the state and turns out a very significant number of superior graduates each spring. The past half century of graduates from each of the Clovis High buildings have a feeling of loyal pride in their school. We' ask while you are attending school here and after you graduate that you, too, endeavor always to uphold our high standards of academic, athletic and personal values con- structed by those who have participated in the past 50 years of education in Clovis. Sincerely, HARLAN BEASLEY
