Foreword The pages that follow are only wood pulp and printer's ink, but by the alchemy of mind over matter they can become for you the aspirations, the tears, and the laughter of the school year 1953-54. Because of the enormity of our undertaking, we approached it with both joy and humility. May this annual be the instrument for recreating a wonderful yC2.I'. We appreciate the help and the many kindnesses of everyone who helped us, particularly Mr. Norman, who took some pictures for us, the News journal, for the loan of pictures, and Al Sass, official photographer. V THE STAFF X I 1 . NN x 1 Nil, N e X -X , Y X Vfix Q 1. A V - l xl X Dedication To our Coach, Bill Stockton, the Senior Class of 1954 wish to dedicate this annual. His quick smile and gentle responsive- ness warm our hearts and. make us feel that in him we have found a true friend. Because of his outstanding coaching ability, the basketball teams of our high school have acquired an eminent reputation. Coach Stockton always has a winning team, if not in the actual score, in the spirit and sportsmanship C 'nt 2' Cl? MARSHALL 7' Q Superintendent ,K fa' is if greatly deserves Message to Seniors As you leave the halls of Clovis High School, may you carry with you the basic skills and facts which you may need in making a living. May you also carry with you a desire and determination to live a full and happy life. It is just as easy to live on a high plane-economically, socially, and spiritually-as it is on a low plane. It is the changing from one plane to a higher plane that is difficult. To make the change one must be willing to work, to put service above self, and to leave out of his or her life such things as spite, hate, and greed. May all the graduates of Clovis High School enjoy the good things of life and may the tune and spirit of the Purple and White always bring to each graduate a feeling of pride and joy. The students of Clovis High School all join in say ing farewell to our superin -X' tendent and friend who has faithfully served our school since 1922. Our memories of Clovis High will forever in clude the ready helpfulness and the warm-hearted gen o erosity of Mr. Marshall May he find in Tennessee joy and f contentment w h 1 c h he so vxxf'-'P N51 DAVE ST CLAIR Prmrzpal Message rom Our Prmczpal Soon another class the semors of 1954 wrll recerve dlplomas passports to colleges unrversr tres busmess and careers We hope your hxgh school has adequately prepared you to meet the many challenges facing you as you move mto these broader flelds of learnmg and action Our wrsh for you rs that each day brings xts share of yoy that each year brxngs nts falr portron of prosperxty and that lnfe brlngs nts full measure of frrendshnps happmess and contentment wrth rrghtful rewards for ,obs well done for efflcrent service to mankxnd and for noble characters perfected Cl 105 Qf s l MRSL MAY MRS.
