This thought ex- pressed by one of our ancients, was and still is an excellent bit of philosophical thinking. To a very large degree we are now what once we hoped to be. Successful and happy living rarely comes about by accident. The time of youth is the formative period. Much of the success or failure of later life will be built upon foundations laid while you are young. Your setting up of worthwhile goals, your estab- lishment of constructive and uplifting habits of thought will lead to a successful life. These words written nearly 3,000 years ago are a continuous challenge to every student. The ability to iudge soundly and to deal keenly with facts is a quality grelatly to be sought after. DOROTHA SMITH, besides being secretary to Mr, Theiler, comes in con- tack with many students issuing parking permits, and publishing the daily bullet- in. She also works closely with our student body officers as they come in to confer with Mr. Theiler. MR. JOHN HANSON, our accountant, handles the purse strings with integrity and efficiency. C.U.H.S. students meet this friendly and helpful man through club and student body finances. He also issues shop cords and purchase orders. Mr. Hanson handles these and many other tasks with a smile. JEAN MEYERS, as Mr. Atkin's secretary, takes care of all his correspondence. As District Secretary, she is in charge of preparing all inter-district permits and all the other business of the school district. She handles all the correspond- ence for the board of trustees. Among her many other duties, she processes all Clovis High mail and issues work permits. MRS. JENNY MORRIS, whom many stu- u dents have seen in the attendance of- MRS. RUTH BELL, as a general secretary in the student office, has various duties to perform. Students come to her for bus permits and guest permits for school functions. She also issues off-campus permits and ties up other loose ends in the attendance office. lice, handles all tardies and absences. Her efficient methods keep things up to date all day and make her an indispen- sable part of the school machinery. MRS. DOROTHY DAVIS keeps permanent business records, and administers those horrid things called rep,ort cards. She is also Mr. Kastner's secretary. The stu- dents come in contact with her pleasant personality when they apply for peti- tions for student body office. She delves into her records and checks to see if our grade averages are high enough to make us eligible to run for office.
