We, the class of '55, believe that no other teacher has ever belonged to a class as Mr. Garver has belonged to our class, so it is to him that we dedicate this CAVALCADE of 1955. Mr. Garver is a symbol of the graduating Seniors. We as Juniors were the first entire class in history to be under his jurisdiction. During that year, his never-ending humor and inside slants on history made the course one to be remembered. Many of the class members came to know him best while taking part in some ot the many activities of which he is the adviser. ln our Senior year he continued teaching a number of us, and, as a friend to all of us, gave his time to anyone who needed assist- ance or counseling about future jobs, col- leges, and opportunities, always doing things that would make us never forget Mr. Phil Garver. ggi will riyf 14 W W

District Superintendent TO THE CLASS OF i955 . .. WE ARE perhaps living in a time of progress second to none in the history of civilization. ln what is sometimes called the l'Atomic Age we are witnessing the fastest growth in the history of the world. The development of atomic energy is iust now in its infancy and our way of life due to this development bids fair to be revolutionized within the life- time of the graduates of l955. Nor is scientific progress limited to this one discovery. We have seen in very recent years the pro- duction of the faster-than-sound iet plane, the miracle drugs, the X development of efficient produc- tion methods and the invention and use of television, which in its many adaptations has taken its firm hold on our lives. These and many more scientinc develop ents have rapidly become a part of modern living. Progress is not limited to invention. Great social movements are under way. Population is increasing at a rapid rate, and the great state of California and our own Fresno County have witnessed the greatest immi- gration of home seekers since the days of the forty-niners. Your brief four years at Clovis High have brought the greatest enrollment growth in the history of your school. You have no doubt been thrilled with the construc- tion and occupancy of our new gymnasium and other buildings. You have been privileged to see your school grow with the increase in its faculty, the development of departments, and the many added courses. You are graduating in the largest class in our history, and with a group that all of us believe to be one of the strongest ever to be graduated from our institution. Presently you will have your diplomas, your pictures will be hung in the halls, the stone will be laid, and you will become members of our rapidly increasing alumni. What then? Will progress end for you as indi- viduals, or will you accept the challenge to successful and progressive living? Will you be content with the com- monplace, or will you become leaders in a progressive world? The answer to this important question lies with each one of you as an individual. There is a place for each of you in this, the greatest of all civilizations. You are necessary for the improvement of the world, irrespective of your selection of a vocation. Give to the world the best you have, and the best will come back to you. Select your vocation early, set your goals, and work unceasingly for success. You graduate with our best wishes and with our fondest hopes for your success We look confidently to your future We will be ever ready to assist ,.. you should occasion arise May you have a happy life filled with worth Je while achievements 11111 William T Atkin District Superintendent X i , i .
