Yet mechanical achieve- ments dim intolinsignificance when we face mans crucial need to improve himself and to learn to live peaceably in the World with others. There are hope- ful signs in the World today that we are learning better to understand ourselves and one another. May the next fifty years see humanity attain as great an achievement in human relations as it has during the last fifty years in mechanical adaptation, x I
