Wood graduated from the Crooksville, Ohio Public Schools and then went on to receive a B.A. degree from Otterbein College in 1925. In 1925 he taught school and coached basketball in Martinsburg High School in Knox County. The next year he married his college classmate, Martha, and became principal in the Gambier Schools. Frém 1927 to 1943 he served as superintendent of the Wakeman Schools in Huron County. In 1930 Mr. Wood received his M,A, degree from Ohio State University. Mr. Wood came to Lodi in 1943. Two additions were built in 1949 and in 1955. The first Vocational Agriculture course was started by him at Lodi and then included in the Cloverleaf Senior High where several vocational courses have been added due to his interest in this area. In 1957 the present Cloverleaf School District was formed and Mr, Wood was selected as superintendent, a position he has held both during the construction of the Cloverleaf Senior High School and the reorganization of the district During his 41 years as an administrator, he has been equally interested in each area of the curriculum and has tried to constantly add to or improve the courses of study in both the elementary and secondary schools. He has enjoyed his 42 years of school work and wishes for the continued progress of the Cloverleaf District. The Woods will retire to Anaheim, California, where their son, Kenneth, owns an office supply store. BOARD OF EDUCATION--FROM LEFT: Mr. Wood, Mr. George Anderson, Mr. Harry Deeks (vice-president), A. E. Noah (president), Mrs. Virginia Bartter, Mrs. Mary Rick (clerk). Absent--Mrs. Ruth E. Wilson. Mr. Wood tends to a bit of routine business. MRS. LAVERNE BROWN, secretary to Mr. Wood. Foreword ‘A picture is better than a thousand words.’’ No matter if the picture is an image in your mindor visible to the eye, that is really what makes a successful story. The 1967 Equestrian Staff could not begin to write a book about the many things that happened at Cloverleaf this year. Instead, we have made an effort to let the pictures speak for them- selves. The photographs will bring back memories and feelings that could never be expressed. This may be the year that you will always remember, If it wasn’t outstanding in some way, then you weren’t alert to and aware of the events that went on around you. Be proud of your alma mater; show your pride by taking part; don’t be a stranger when you go through your yearbook. Guidance Counselors Help Students Solve Problems Should I take the business course or the academic course? Do I need four years of English? Which college would be best for a person of my interests? Where can I find employment? These questions can be best answered at C.H.S. by a member of the guidance department. Not only do Mr. Burton and Mr. Shearer help a student organize his class schedule, but they also administer various tests throughout the year to gauge his academic progress and to indicate the type of work in which he would most likely succeed. Also, students often confront the guidance department with problems that they them- selves are unable to solve. Lance Miller (right) works with Mike Slater and Mrs. Ida Mantz at Mack's Food Center. Baldwin-Wallace College Instrumental Music Student Musicians Learn to Appreciate Mr. Kerr might quietly dream that one of his stu- dents will become a member of the Cleveland Sympho- hy, just as Miss Watson might envision a Cloverleaf chorus member signing up with the Metropolitan Opera. However, the major goal of the music program at C.H.S. is not to provide great musicians for orchestras and choruses. Instead, the teachers of music hope to instill in their students a lasting appreciation for music. Of course, the more one understands about music, the more one will appreciate it. And what better way is there to gain understanding of music than actually par- ticipating in the production of it. MISS SANDRA WATSON (left) B.M.E., M.M.E. These, of course, are very basic to the course as it is taught at Clover- leaf, However, Mrs. Betty Hastings' students also learn how to administer first aid, upholster or refinish furni- ture, and cope with the problems of dating, marriage, and family living. Students discuss job applications and even design the floor plan for a house. As a result, the girls are headed in the right direction toward becoming efficient housewives. ao MRS. ATHLETICS Football Team Under the direction of a new coach, Mr. John Moore, the rather inexperienced Colt football team had a slow start this season. This is the excitement of football. Coaches Moore and Davidson stand on the sidelines as the team shows its mettle on the field. Others who coach the team are Mr. Gower, Mr. Gillam, and Mr. Repp. Will he catch it? Whether he does or not, the crowd will have received a thrill. Future Teachers Preview Future Profession Students are accustomed to sitting in a classroom as the teacher conducts the class. Seldom do they con- sider just what is involved in being a teacher. The F,T.A. members, however, are given a n opportunity to view the situation from the other side of the teacher's desk. Each year, they teach in the elementary schools for a day or more. Thus, they are better prepared to decide whether or not entering the teaching profession is their desire. Future Teacher Sue Brown (with back toward camera) takes part in a speech class presentation of “Our Town with Charlie Weidenmann.
