Heading Cloverdale's administra- 5 tive system was the seven mem- ber Board of Education. Members Q of the board who met monthly with Mr. Johnson were: Seated: Mrs. Lillian Whitaker, Sec.g Mr. John Monnett, and Mr. Russell Sendmeyer. Standing: Mr. Arthur Johnson, Supt.g Mr. Wendell Neese, Pres.g Mr. Harley Suther- lin, Mr. Alva Cash, V. Pres.g and Mr. Wayne Meek. dministration Was Hub of C.H. . Mr. Johnson and members of the Board of Education had spent many hours in consultation and planning for the new addition which would relieve the crowded conditions in the elementary building and also some of the high school classes. After many delays and much frustration, ground for the new wing of the elementary building was finally broken in October. WAS' l se Scheduling classrooms and coping with the crowded conditions of the high school, Mr. Ison endeavored to give the students of C.H.S. the type of education that would be most desireable for ones individual needs. Opportunities for enrichment of the students' education was the primary concern of the adminis- tration. With that objective before them, new courses were constantly being added to the cmriculum.

Seldom does the average student take into consid- eration the difficult tasks that face the school ad- ministration. When the final foot steps had faded away at the beginning of summer vacation, the ad- ministration was already planning the first day of school in the fall. Wheel Knowing the importance of helping students plan for tomorrow, Guidance Director and Assistant Principal Mr. Schopmeyer, was always eager to dis- cuss any problem or answer any ques- tions that students had about their schedules or colleges. Keeping smoothly functioning ofiices for both Mr. Johnson and Mr. Telgmeyer kept Mrs. Price busy commuting between the Superintendent's office and the Elementary building. Jenny was equal to the situation and also served as treasurer for the Board of Education, kept the supplies ordered, and had charge of the bookstore in the fall. A very friendly face around school was that of Mr. Virgil Telgemeyer, Elemen- tary Principal. He was on hand to greet students as they arrived in the morn- ing and waved good-bye as the buses left at 3:10. Mr. Telgemeyer had a tre- mendous responsibility as there were 604 students enrolled in elementary school. Learning the names and faces of all the students who appeared in the Principal's oflice seemed an unsur mountable task for Mrs. Colleen Neese when she as- sumed her duties as secretary to Mr. Ison.
