The 8th grade team broke almost even with a 7-6 record for the season. Under the ca- pable coaching of Coach Coon, a former CHS Varsity basketball member, these boys worked on the specific positions they played. Members were: Front row: J. Haltom, G. Nees, M. Jones, T. Nickerson, D. Whitaker. Second row: G. McCullough, K. Orr, D. Mon- nett, R. Anderson, W. McClure. Third row: J. Davis, G. Minnick, G. Gale, E. Whitaker, D. Diel, S. Clines, Coach Coon Eyed Varsity Positions With Coach Andrews' coaching drills on dribbling, passing, fast breaks, foul shooting, and all-around ball handling, the seventh graders were anxious to master the fundamentals of basketball. This year's B-team sported the fine record of 16-3. Many of their games were close, but these mighty Clovers were able to overcome most of their powerful adversaries. B-team squad members were: Front row: C. N ees, K. Nield, C. Herbert, M. Jordan, J. Hilliard. Second row: Coach Williams, P. Mugg, J. Gerlach, G. Smith, T. Steele, J. Nield, Varsity Coach Tucker. B Team And Underclass Teams The 13-5 record of the Freshmen ball team indicated the fine coaching abil- ity of Coach Stanley. Along with his excellent coaching, the boys kept in top condition by using the new Universal weight machine and running up and down flights of stairs during their practice sessions. - I The old saying, Behind every successful man is a Woman could be taken out of context and applied to the B-team cheerleaders. This year's B-team cheerlead- ers who backed their team with clever acrobatic stunts, 'Wa- spirited yells, and a lot of good old-fashioned school spirit were: D. Dean, Capt., V. Cummings, S. Send- meyer, K. Fidler, Lynn Wells was chosen as alternate for the B-team cheerleaders. Spirit-Pep Winning was the theme of the Freshman team, and to cheer their team to their vic- torious season were the Freshman cheerlead- els. Their youthful enthusiasm and desire to succeed was their key to success. Freshman cheerleaders were: top to bottom: S. Bowman, G. Hervey, T. Schied.
