CLOVER PARK Clover Park where days are brightest, Clover Park where friends are gay. On our field a shield of valor, first in work and first in play. Clover Park where hearts are lightest, Where the years are just a test Constantly to prove the honor of the school we love the best. To the prairie, to the mountains, To the stream that rushes by Green and white we lift our banner where the hr tree meets the sky. Let us sing, let us remember Clover Park beside the stream, Wlhere we meet each bright September, lVhere we plan our golden For the school upon the prairie is a part of every heart And we pledge to bring you glory, Clover Park, dear Clover Park. 5 d rea in

Chances are no one would be more amazed than Mr. Emer- son were he here today to watch us literally trying to hitch on to a star. But we suspect that wasnlt exactly what he had in mind. He was using the metaphor to enlarge his reader's horizons - to bring him out of himself. The purpose of education, too, is just that - to expand one's thinking - oneis spirit beyond one's self. There is nothing more pathetic than a sharpened intellect preoccupied only with its own little world - self-comfort, self-security, self-safety. We believe from your training at Clover Park that you will know how to keep your feet on the ground. However, we hope your training is such that your spirit - the real you - will do some soaring. Only through giving of yourself to a worhwhile cause or need -4 by hitching to a star, inetaphorically speaking - will you give meaning to the education your community gave you. May that education be a launching platform for the brightest, most useful life possible. T. OLAI HAGENESS, Superintendent. 6
