Cavaliers Putt... for the Fun of It! The Clover Hill Golf Team, with Mr. John Squires as coach, had a successful 6-4 season in 1984-85. Due to the loss of the previous year’s seniors, the incoming freshmen became a new and vital part of the team. This team was Runner-Up in the District Tournament, beating the number one team, Manchester. Winning an invitation to compete in the Regional Tournament, the golf team finished fourth out of eight teams. The Most Valuable Player for the year was freshman Jeff Greenberg, and the Coach’s Award went to freshman Donnie Saylor. Despite the departure of senior Jeff Lenert, the golf team, with its 1984-85 members plus rising freshmen, will have a chance to reach the top. The team traveled as far as Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and Williamsburg, Virginia, to Compete in their six meets. At these meets, the Clover Hill team was against at least twenty teams, and always finished in the top ten.
