Arlene Ahlgren leaves her hot temper to Marilyn Alstad. Jim Pastika leaves the center field position open. Ken Wisneski leaves his hidden poetic ability to Bob Hagen. Janet Helstrom leaves the crown to be placed on the head of some unsuspecting iunior girl. Marilyn Palo leaves, but she takes her everlasting giggle with her. But alas and alack came a fateful May day When it was announced that they all could not stay. Students and teachers, though hurt to the core. Braced themselves bravely for what was in store. Then they gave some diplomas. and sent some to war. And let the rest stay around to study some more. But terrible thoughts worried those that had stayed, Were their friends taken care of? Had they debts to be paid? No need to have worried. their plans carefully made. Had turned out far better than anyone prayed. For Dr. Dave Larson, such a great man as he, A Nobel Prize winner was iust bound to be. And ye citizens all, fear not for your safety, For we've Admiral Frets at the head of our navy! That million dollar race horse, Jeffrey's Thane, Has brought nothing but wealth to his dear mistress, Jane. And speaking of money brought in without pain, I hear Kenny Olson's inherited again. Our pal, Tony, 'though embalming's his trade. Has revived Love Sick Blues with the record he made. And dashing Frank Asplund, a gallant young blade, Has grown four more inches and is truly dismayed. Need a good seamstress? Just go to the top Of the Kenelworth Building to Ruby J's shop. Or, if you're in need of brush, broom, or mop, Just call Fuller Brush and Art Johnson will stop. lt's rumored that Bev Parks, famed founder and head Of the Nat'l. Bachlorettes. has been secretly wed, So Kathleen Hewitt left her air port lno shedll To lead the ladies in friend Beverly's stead. At the concert piano it's a well proven fact, Clara has all the talent the rest of us lacked. But don't be discouraged if you're minus some tact, The Helstrom Charm School will soon fix that. Art Poehls can make e plane engine that literally purrs But he still comes home from hunting covered with burrs. Dianne and Lotus. as it occurs, Both live in Alaska but won't button their furs. A few of the kids ioined a top name band, Now Critzer. Kolodge, and Risdon are the best in the land. If you've written any lit. that you think is grand, Editor Walker may use it in her GRAINS OF SAND. Duke and BoBo. a couple well known trophy takers, Are playing basketball now with the Minneapolis Lakers. lf we said none were married we'd be terrible takers, 'Cause Elaine. If nurse Bonnie Rae gets a case she can't cure She calls in DeDe, Lois J., or Barb. E. to help her. Bob Bromme, when young, all the girls did pursue. Now he's head coach at the U. of Purdue. Marlene Gayle Shipman, with eyes bright and blue. ls home like we all should be. making a stew. As far as competent secretaries go- The girls from Cloquet are the best, you know. Pat Larson and Nan Peterson never feel low. And Betty Johnson and Donna Huard make piles of dough Two grocery men now are Charon and Vnuk, lf you buy your meats there you'll never be rook'd. She's married now, but little Le,e Cook Still needs a ladder to get a good look. Ken Wisneski built a rocket to visit the stars. He hasn't been heard of since he took off for Mars. Right here on earth Jolly Joe Demers ls a dealer in used rockets, saucers. and cars. Faye Christenson, whom you've all heard of l know, ls featured on THRILL, the big radio.show. Pat Polvi can tell you, when you're feeling low, That the life of a teacher holds plenty of woe. Rev. Lenard Nelson, a good and righteous man, ls serving a parish in Afghanistan. Think you could teach a boy to make a wooden fan Prof. Arnie Sunnarborg's quite certain he can. 'Though Hollywood calls, Bob Hanson won't sway. His acting is strictly for good old Broadway. Bob has a friend, whom you all know as Ray. He's a missionary up on cold Hudson Bay. Of all the kids who left school that day, Dayton was the one with the most to say. He worked hard and long and struggled away. And now he's Attorney General of the U.S.A. Marion Hunter has chosen as her career Filling kids with knowledge way up to here. lf you need a friend lLine forms at the rearll Halvy is still a good name to hear. The rest of the guys and gals who left Cloquet That long ago day are also doing O.K. So as a final wish to them. let's say, We hope they always stay that way! NOTE: You may not care much for this poem. Don't check it with a tine tooth comb! But we thought while returning to Hawaii from Rome, lt'd make a good story to send back home!
