A. 6-High School 15 By defeating this hard-hitting, experienced team, we raised our standard higher level than had been reached for several years. This game, unlike the preceding one, abounded in thrills, and kept of either faction in a recurrent uproar. The splendid fight shown by the on this day, can not easily be duplicated. O'Marro scored on a wide end run, and goal was kicked. Later in the on a series of repeated line plunges, Adamscheck scored the second touchdown. SEPTEMBER 27 Proctor O-Cloquet 55 This game, at Proctor, aroused no abundance of enthusiasm, for as annual games show, it is a well-established victory. Still, Proctor, though not the best, had an average team, and our decisive victory over them showed far above the average the boys were. In this game, the entire second played two quarters, but Proctor failed to score. O'Marro scored two touchdowns, and Adamscheck three. Goal was for the remaining five points. OCTOBER 4 Morgan Park 0-Cloquet 6 Q By adding this victory to our so-far successful season, we hoisted our another arm's length toward the top. Though the score was not so beating administered to these scrappy, steel-men, rated among Duluth's wil If convincing enough to satisfy all concerned. The boys won, we asked no more. Wenzel broke through the Parker's line, and scored the only touchdown of the day. ' OCTOBER ll Denfeld 0-Cloquet 0 The much-tooted Denfeld, Duluth's best, and our so-called arch-enemy, was gumbled, if not beaten, on a very muddy field and on the most disagreeable of ays. On passing before the scrutinizing eyes of the Denfeld fans, the boys were affixed with monickers of Hsodbustersn, Hlumber-jacks , and various other appellations, which most fitted their appearance. True, they were a motley- looking bunch, wrapped in varying shades to protect themselves from the cold. But,-came the time to warm up. Then the old purple came upon the field, to dash through a few simple plays. Doubts, as to the visitors' ability, were not firmly hxed, when the sureness of speed of the boys was finally brought home. Pity and contempt were turned to admiration. The game began, and Denfeld failed to run away with the despicably small farmers . Their greatest efforts proved in vain. Kicking, passing, plunging, running, all proved one as successful as the other. O'Marro, our end, snapped a fumble from the air, and ran 70 yards for a touchdown, but by the very questionable decision of an official, these points were not awarded us. However, we were, of necessity, satisfied. OCTOBER 18 Cathedral 224Cloquet H. S. 7 Though outplayed in nearly all departments of the game, Cathedral very decisively defeated the boys on this better-to-be-forgotten day. In the first half, neither team scored, bue the boys so greatly outclassed their visitors, that no one suspected that all would go so contrarily. In the third quarter, which proved to be the jimi in the following game, the visitors piled up the score, mainly by the forward pass. In this period, Adamscheck circled an end, and fought savagely for our only touchdown. Goal was kicked. OUR BAN D For the first time in the history ot Cloquet High School, we can boast ofa real band. A few years ago, there was a string orchestra but never has there been a regular brass band. The band has been made possib e only through the efforts of Mr. Myhre. In a surprisingly short time, he has organized a band containing thirty members, some of whom have played instruments before. The majority, however, have been given instruments by the school. The members of the band are as follows: B Cornels: Clarence Jensen, Eino Granholm, Bernard Saltvick, Paul Salo Harold Shampine, lack Stapleton, Esmond Iohnson, Orville Berg. Trombones: Harold Gibault, William Stolberg, loe Stevens, Clarence Ehrman Leonard Lien, Norman Johnson. B Clarinets: Basses: Warren Iohnson Floyd Brissett Harry Dixon Bruce McDonalcl Dexter Whittemoi'Qr Bertil Estlund Willis Carlson E Altos: Baritones Sherman Freeman Lyle Brissett Earl Larson Stanley Wlhittemore Alto Saxophone: Bass Drum: Elmer Wallace Sydney Sheean Snare Drums: Nlilton Crotty, Iohn Depue, Gordon Stolberg. Progress was rapid, and in a month and a half, the band played at the Cloquet-Proctor basket-ball game, February 20. On both March 15 and 14, the band accompanied the basket-ball team to the Regional Tournament held at the Armory in Duluth. The band appeared on the floor in balsam-wool costumes furnished by the Yvood-Conversion Company of Cloquet. A concert was given in the High School Auditorium, April 30. The Seniors had to admit it, and perhaps the Iuniors of today will too, unless they set their pretty heads working hard. Everyone came early to see perhaps the latest of Paris creations, or if the other fellow had rented his suit or was wearing dad's. On entering the Gym, everyone gasped, How lovelyln The ceiling was lowered in pink and white streamers, and a small lattice fence around the dancing floor was prettily trimmed in green boughs and flowers. The everyday gym was a beautiful roof garden. A good program humored all, so when the strains of music were heard, every- one tripped the light fantastic. Those who didn't dance entertained themselves by playing games at the table, or by making themselves comfy in the deep- cushioned chairs in the cozy corner. After a delicious lunch, the guests departed, declaring it the best Iunior- Senior ever. -:h:v0e:-4-eAQoS4b- SENIOR-ALUMNI HUP As usual the Senior Class sponsored the Senior-Alumni Hop, which took place Friday evening, December 26th, in the High School gym. Despite the cold weather, a very good and peppy crowd was in attendance, due to the fact that so many ofthe alumni were home during the holidays. The ticket committee, Ioe Poirier, Pete Nelson, Rebecca Collins, and Alargaret Danielson, did good work selling tickets to as many of the alumni as seniors. The gym, decorated in green and white was especially attractive and added to the festive occasion. Erickson's orchestra furnished the music throughout the evening. Punch was served by the refreshment committee. According to the members of the alumni, this was the most successful Senior Hop in many years. - 4-4' ... - -- Si1EZ-Rf T ,3'f:f13L2-Eifilfie - VV, ' ef' V' .
