ASSEMBLIES DON LONIE - Mr. Lonie appeared for the second assembly at Clio in two years. An inspiration- al speaker, he challenged the theory of Going along with the crowd. Again as in his previous appearances he scored a tremendous hit with the student body. He didn't pull any punches when talking about manners, health, honesty, study, or belief in God. He was a good speaker and delivered a terrific message. B. MICHAEL SUMNER - Mr. Sumner is a young man who had just returned from a world cruise aboard the sailing ship Yankee. The ship was under command of Captain Irving M. Johnson who with his amateur crew of young Americans, both men and women, visited such far off places as Panama Canal, Galapagos, Pitcairn, Tonga, New Guinea, Bali, Thialand, and Afri- ca. The color films of the trip make the lecture very enjoyable to the audience as he showed his pulse-quickening scenes. ELIAS WARD - Mr. Ward, the world's largest animal trainer, brought our next assembly. The Yale University graduate supplies more animals to zoos and circuses than any other main source in the world. During World War II Mr. Ward was the only active wild animal importer due to exclusive contracts with government agencies. This was due to war research. Under the con- tracts he imported thirty thousand monkeys. His talks on animal life around the world did fas- cinate his audience. STEPHEN A. HABOUSH - Portrayed the Shepherd Boy of Galilee. He shared his experiences with the group. He explained the customs and habits of the life of his people of the Holy Land. He appeared in authentic costume. JOHN SCANLAN - He delighted our audience with his varied types of monodrama from many places. The entire production conveys the aura of the theatrical illusion. Within a simple framework the plays are set. He is an actor of the finest skill! CHEMISTRY ASSEMBLY - It was a fascination to see the super cooling demonstrations. The quick freezing process, quite similar to liquid air, producing such startling effects as instant ice, frozen rubber, and many more interesting experimental reactions.
