Since the beginning of high school I've been in the R.O. T.C. and I really believe it has become a part of Clin- tondale. An A.F.J.R.O. T.C. cadet is proud to wear his uniform, proud of the corp, and especially proud of the squadron here at Clin- tondale High. Major Erring- ton and Sergeant Hinds are the two men who have really helped to get this program off to a great start. The annual Military Ball of A.F.J.R.0.T.C. was the highlight of the year. We all had a good time and every body jammed. There were nearly 100 couples there, Theresa Nash was selected to be crowned QUEEN this year and nobody was disatisfied. Colonel Bartholomew, base commander of Selfridge also attended our dance. TOP: Couples dance at ball. ACROSS: Theresa Nash crowned queen. BELOW: queen's court and Major Erington. BOTTOM RIGHT: Sue Weis, Jeff Manioni, Threasa Nash, Jack Gibson, Skip Nyle, Threasa Heinz. R.0.T.C. MILITARY BALL, MORE THAN JUST A DANCE!

Zarzycki, our sponsor, keeps us moving constantly and this kind of activity keeps my interest. I put in many hours of work along with several others in ' preparing for the dances, Homecoming and Snowball. We also gave the school S500 to improve its condi- tions. We make all our de- cisions at meetings regularly and once a month we have a breakfast meeting at 6:30. I have the hardest time get- ting up but once you're there it's o.k. Alot of topics are brought up and you get a feel ing of accomplishment. lt's really worth being a member.

NEWSPAPER KEEPS STUDENTS INFORMED FROM LEFT T0 RIGHT, Pam Vanderback-Business manager, Kathy Willhoff, Connie Shereda-sports editor Mary MacGregor. Editor in chief, Sue Gorslewski, Mike McNamara-Photographer Mike Nuttle, Mrs. Smyntek. Nly first day in Newspaper class and I wonder what I'm doing here. I can't even read a Newspaper let alone write one. When lVlrs. Smyntek came into the room and told us how we were going to write the Newspaper, better known as the Connection, I was sure I couldn't. As the year progressed, with help from Mrs. Smyntek and second year students, l learned. I can honestly say that l helped in making the Connection as good a paper as it is. newspaper 65
