CLASS HISTORY In September, 1952, a group of 74 poor little Freshmenâ stormed through the doors of C. S. V. T. S. We didn't know what to expect but we caught on pretty fast. Jim Stanton started the ball rolling for the first year as President. Our sponsor was Mr. Homer Jones. Wanda Lucas was our candidate for Fair Queen of C. S. V. T. S. Activities were a little slow the first year. Among the big events were the FHA and FFA initiations, and State Fair. Our class trip to Petit Jean in the spring of the year was enjoyed by everyone. Our Sophomore year began in August, 1953. Warren Hensley was elected president and Mr. Elba Gordon was sponsor. We were saddened to lose two members of our class, Marilyn Pate and Derriell Sikes, who were in a tragic auto accident. Our candidate for Fair Queen was Ann Johnson. Charlen Will- oughby was a Homecoming Maid. The big event of the year was our class play, Her Emergency Husband which was about the only activity we undertook. A slow drizzling rain really put a damper on our class trip to Hot Springs. A group of ambitious Juniors came back to school in August, 1954. We elected Leon Moore as president, and Miss Jean Smith as sponsor. Ann John- son was our candidate again for Fair Queen. Later, she was also elected the Homecoming Queen. Charlen Willoughby once again was selected as one of the Homecoming Maids. Mary Smith was elected President of the FHA. A large number of the class participated in our play Love Your Neighbor . A Torch Queen was elected for the first time, and one of the girls in our class, Betty Jo Patton, received this honor. One of the happiest days of the year was the day we selected our class rings. In April we honored the Seniors with the annual Junior and Senior Banquet. It was a very beautiful affair with Moonlight and Roses as the theme. Our class trip this year was to Willow Springs and Little Rock. Barry Starcher received the Sportsmanship Award which is presented annually by the Lion's Club. Junior ushers for the graduations were Gerald Bonds and Leon Moore. We came back to school in August, 1955, but this time we came not as mere students but as full-fledged Seniors. We started our year off by electing Robin Starcher as class president. Mrs. Billy Ray Pate and Mr. Ralph Hutto stood behind us all the way as co-sponsors. The day our class rings arrived we real- ized that we were truly Seniors and that many responsibilities would be ours. Ann Johnson was again elected our candidate for Fair Queen and also represented the school. Our class was well represented by Jehree Aday and Ann Johnson as maids at our Homecoming Ceremonies. Martha Williams was elected president of the Clinton Chapter of FHA. Our class play was presented November 22, 1955. Everyone thought A-Feudin' Over Yonder was a hugh success. We again elected a Torch Queen, this time Jehree Aday. Jim Wallace and Lee Hodge were selected for the All-District Football Team. After a grand time on our class trip we came back to don our caps and gowns for commencement.
