Mr. Eugene Alexander, Superinten- dent of Clinton Prairie Schools , co- s, 2. Ei' . Se. , Mr. Phillip I. McDaniel, principal, is responsible for the complete edu- cational program at Clinton Prairie. He graduated from Indiana State Uni- versity with a B,S. , lVI.S. and has completed one extra year of graduate work. Mr. McDaniel previously ordinates state and school board pol- taught in Indianapolis and was as- icies with the operation of the schools . He graduated with a B.A, and M.S. from Central Normal Col- lege and Purdue University. Functioning as the controlling unit of Clinton Prairie High School, the school board fixes school policies , hires and replaces teachers and ap- propriates funds for the various de- partm ents . sistant principal at Cascade High School. Besides performing his numerous re- sponsibilities as assistant principal Mr. Miller teaches Algebra I. He earned B.P.E. and M.P.E. degrees from Purdue University. The Guidance Department advises students, schedules classes and ad- ministers tests to measure the stu- dents' abilities and interests. Pro- grams are planned by the counselors to prepare students for future jobs and education. Mrs. Marian Sims, general secretary, synchronizes the inner workings of the high school office. Her work in- cludes writing tardy passes to being a private secretary. Mrs. Sue Bass handles the extra-curricular funds. This involves the monetary trans- actions for the clubs and or- ganizations in the school. Mrs . Mary Kelly and Mrs. Bet- ty Siekman work as secretaries in the superintendent's office. Taxes can be taxing. 7th graders recreate a pioneer village. Teachers attempt to make relevant the basic historical concepts by studying the problems and solu- tions of the past in the light of contemporary problems . Films , film strips, library re- search, panels, mock political conventions and individual projects and study make up much of the high school social studies curriculum. I2 Micro film, and reference books are among the additions to the facilities of the school library. The librarian, Mrs. Hurt, offers synopses of new books given in the classroom, a ser- vice begun this year. Students use the library extensively for study and for pleasure . Students are given the opportunity for self-expression by means of art through oil painting, stain glass work, copper enameling, hand crafts sketchings, and many others. A variety of activities occupies the time of the one hundred and ten mem- ber high school band. High placing at solo and ensemble contest and a first place rating at this year's band contest showed the results of every- day rehearsals . The band performs for home football games and partici- pates in local parades. The members of the chorus are ex- posed to many levels of vocal music ranging from popular to classical. P S P A four year math program gives stu- dents a chance to apply the values of logical reasoning. The different levels include general math, algebra geometry, and advanced mathematics Biology, chemistry, and physics pro- vide for student awareness of the diversified fields of sciences. Many phases of homemaking are available to girls in grades seven through twelve. The backbone of these courses is consumer buying, which branches into clothing, interior decorating, and foods. Crops, livestock, soil, and equip- ment are the significant components of farming. New methods are intro- duced in the classroom that can be applied directly to actual farming. Business courses compile one of the largest departments at Clinton Prai- rie. Students experience the haz- ards of stock markets, the trying of a court case, and the arts of sales- manship.
