Through the Years SENIOR 1 I A55 HIHTORX When thls enterprlslng class of 134 freshmen landed at f H S Airport in 1943 teach ers tradesmen townspeople and all agreed as for spunk originality holsterousness and good sportsmanship we were the icmg on the cake 11 hy we even had both quantity and qualltv We elected Roy Edward Meador better known as The Bram for our president Ron ald flleaven Forbldl Bablone was vlce presl dent and ,loann 188 Keys! Smith served as sec retary and treasurer Our representatives to Student 101111011 who were undoubtedly chosen because they were the most bfllllalll students in lngh school were Madonna Harrell and james Dave! port Under the guidance of our sponsors Mr A L Lee and 'Vlrs ,l H Scrogg who was at that tlme Mlss Ada Ruth Trent, and wlth the lCadCl'8lllP of our business manager 'Vlargaret fMoney Bags! Codfrey and Samnne tflo fet ltb Simon we were able to make a beautiful three polnt landlng durmg the Popularity Contest Our candidates this year were vlvaclous ,lane Asher and magnammous Monte Nltzkowskl lane has now returned to her old homestead m Oklahoma City and Monte to hls natlve Calxfomla This class dwindled slightly for when we became sophomores we were only 111 strong 'Wo doubt about lt the sophs really put all others ln the shade that year of 1944 45 flllls was the first year of our Interscholastlc Basketball Tournament and you dont even need to guess who took lt the sophomores naturally wlth the greatest of ease Our officers this year were Ronald Bablone presldent and Sammle Simon vice presl Our lllustnous representatives to Student Councll for this term were Marjone fBreathlessj Wade and Rov 1Bra1ny1 Meador Regulations for the Populanty Contest were changed 1.1118 year so as to elect the most popular boy and girl the student bodv elected them by popular vote Corky Cometsevah a sophomore boy of course took off with the tztle forky has been a star football and basket ball player all through hlgh school Wlth Miss Hazel Evans and Coach Waldo Wllson as our gold dlgglll sponsors, the W ranglers Hoe Down was a bang up success by the sophs that year After deciding to glve the poor down trodden freshmen a chance to try their wmgs at being sophomores we became full fledged Junlors Heaven Forbld Babxone dxd lt agaln and was president of the Jumor class Aubra fFarmerj Wilson was vlce presldent and Gladys tGnnan P Barrett was secretary and treasurer The mam event of the year was the ,lumor Senlor banquet and prom which 122 of us Juniors with the help of our sponsors Mr Clyde Taylor and Miss Sophia Rodrlquez gave ln honor of the graduating class 'Ih1s was un uestxonably the most magmficent occasion ln the history of Clinton high school what with fined clncken cape Jasmine and colored butlers to carry out the theme Among other tlnngs we Junlors also found txme to wln the interscholastic basketball toumament agam and tnough we could have taken the popularlty contest we decided to save our money After getting rld of that graduatlng class we declded to command the C H S Alrforce figuratlvely as well as factually Commanding officers this year are guess who-Ronald Ba blone for first flight officer and Paul Nxeto as second fhght officer secretary of the class 13 Cnnan Barrett, and Pat 4Curlylocksb Moore IB our treasurer fWho said we were going broke! Jane Smith and Billy Paul Granot represent us ln Student Councll At the tlme this was wrltten we seniors havent had time to take all the honors that we undoubtedly will but varlous students have already added their laurels Our secretary Gladys Barrett was nominated by us and unanimously elected by the faculty as the best cxtlzen in Clinton hlgh school Then too among the five candidates for football queen, three were seniors and one of them Frances Fnednch was elected Also elected by popular vote Were Pat Moore and Rita Nlchols both senlors as the most popular boy and girl ln high school Was xt comcldence or just using our heads that they were our candidates durlng both our Jumor and BCIIIOI years And so our High School History comes to an end when 108 of us are granted our wings May 23, 1947. if 99 L 1 A 1 g n T , , ,- ,, ' Q 9 ' Y', , I , V . i 3 4 . .
