Hopes of an outright championship went down the drain with a 13-8 loss to Heber Springs. Still, the Jackets came away with a good season and many All-District elections. Shown above are the all-District Yellowjackets for 75. FRONT ROW: Steve Bone, Tight End; Jim Eoff, Defensive Tackle; Robert Evans, Linebacker; Clint Gunn, Center. SECOND ROW: David Hogue, Honorable Mention Offen- sive Guard; Lathan Jackson, Honorable Mention, Defensive Tackle; Glen Lovell, Fullback; Den- nis McKellep, Halfback and Outstanding Back in District 12A. THIRD ROW: Steve Smith, Kick- ing Specialist; Jeff Williams, Honorable Mention Quarterback. Evans, Gunn, Lovell, and McKellep are repeaters from the 74 All-District team. This team was one of the largest in numbers in recent Clinton history. It was also one of the smallest in size. They made up for it with good quickness and team speed. The offense was built around the running ability of six backs mainly, Russell Anglin, Bobby Graham, Glen Lovell, Dennis McKellepp, Chuck Tester, and Jeff Williams. The line consisted of Randy Smith and Issac Keeling, at the tackles, guards Tracy Moore and David Hogue and Steve Bone and Billy Don Story at the ends. The defense was one of the main reasons for the Jacket success this year. Although hurt by key injuries to Bone, Lovell, Maas, Tedder and West, the defense still performed admirably. Steve Bone and Randy Smith performed at defensive end and Jim Eoff and Lathan Jackson held down the tackle positions. Robert Evans, Paul Tedder and Clint West were the linebackers while Melvin Emerson, Stanley Smith, Steve Smith, and Jeff Williams played in the secondary. These starters plus strong bench strength helped the Jackets bring Clinton another winning year. 39 Clinton Yellowjackets RITA NEWLAND 1975 HOMECOMING QUEEN SENIOR MAID LATRICIA BRADFORD SENIOR MAID BRENDA TREECE Homecoming Royalty JUNIOR MAID DONNA SHAVER The Queen and Her Court Miss Latricia Bradford Miss Rita New land Miss Brenda Treece Miss Janice Stagg Gretchm KirkendMiss Donna Shaver Miss Roxanne Keeling S ’ Ward Miss Lori Gardner 1975-76 Senior Boys Basketball Team FRONT ROW: Dean Allen, Russell Anglin, David Williams, Steve Smith, and Jeff Williams. 2nd ROW: Barry Gunn, Stanley Smith, Clint West, Dennis McKellep, Randy Smith, and Lloyd McGhee. 3rd ROW: Coach Jim Franks, Steve Autry, Lathan Jackson, Issac Keeling, Steve Bone, Dick Maas, Dennis Loven, Steve Harris, NOT PICTURED - Paul Tedder. GUARD Coach Jim Franks’ Senior Boys were never quite able to put the winning combination together this year. Inconsistency was the Jackets main problem. There were some fine efforts in many games by many different people, but they just weren't able to put these good games together at the same time. Steve Bone led the Jackets in scoring this year with 241 points in 18 games or 13.4 points per game. Clint West and Dennis McKellep were selected to the All-County team for 1976. Coach Brian Bailey's Senior Girls put together a 6-13 record against some strong competition this year. The girl's played with a lot of enthusiasm and most of their losses were rather close. Their season came to an end with a close 45-42 loss to Vilonia in the district Girls Tournament played at Clinton. Jan Bonds was the leading scorer this year with 459 points in 19 games for an average of 24.2 points per game. The difference, we question, if only we knew And in our grief, we often cry But they were so young - why, God why? A tree is cut down before it's grown And there’s nothing left to carry on Except memories . . . just a seed That brings to mind a word, a deed. No answer, nothing anyone can say Can make our heartaches go away. But just look up at the trees, If God in heaven cares for these Surely he cares for you and 1. And who are we to ask God why?
