At times they played good basketball and at times anyone could have beaten them. A lot of this comes from inexperience and the lack of self-discipline. They played some good competition this year and it should help the younger people in the long run. A lot of people got to play quite a bit of basketball this year. Next year with the experience our players gained this year and with the people coming off the Jr. team we should be able to hold our own with just about everyone. Six of the girls’ nine losses came at the hands of teams that won berths in the state tournaments. The high point of the season was a 56 to 47 win over rival Mountain View. The girls’ will lose five good senior performers. Claire Kidd, Marsha Davis, Cheryl McCormac, Vickie Jennings, and Marie Shaver will all graduate in May. However, two good Junior teams and three solid junior girls will be back next year. The future looks good in Girls Basketball at C.H.S. The offense scores two against Mountain View helping Clinton to win 56 to 47. Don’t forget warm-ups: four-corner passing drill, star drill, three man weave, then shoot. DAVIS JENNINGS C. The attitude and desire on the pan of the Jr. Boys was tremendous. They never quit hustling and were eager to correct their mistakes. The ninth graders moving up will be a great asset to the Sr. Boys team next year and the 8th graders should have another fine team next year. Randy Smith scores two for the Jr. Team on a fast break! The Jr. Girls Basketball team finished a successful season of 10 wins and 4 losses. These victories included the Van Buren County Tournament Championship and being runner-up in the District 12 A tournament. Without any starters returning this year, the beginning of the season looked grim. However, these girls worked hard and made themselves a good basketball team. All six starters plus the first two substitutes move up again this year. Let’s hope next year’s team accepts the challenge and becomes another winner in Junior Girls Basketball at C.H.S.
