From dawn to dusk, through advance of the colors, general session, much awaited mail call, trips be- tween barracks, and finally vespers - it was all great. And some of the friendships we made will be like our memories; they will last forever. It is impossible to put into words just what Girl's State was or to tell all we learned there. Girl's State was American action through Patriotism; it taught and created in us a love of God and Country. By taking part in its government—local, state, and national - we learned how our country operates. I pledge allegiance to the flag . . . 9 y Clinton High School Band Jackie Bramlett, Freida Story, Dena Hall, Jan Eoff, Diane Ward, Lynn McKnight. In Memory Of Mark Pipkins He'd wake up in the morning, To face a bright new day. Isn't it wonderful to be alive! Is what he'd probably say. He'd go along his way. Meeting each with a cheery Hi, And before he left the room He wouldn't forget to say, Good-bye. He was always willing to try Or to lend a helping hand. He did everything from playing football To marching in the band. Then came the terrible time. Oh, it was a sad, sad day. When all over campus it was said, Did you hear Mark passed away? At the funeral I decided that his family Was the bravest I've ever seen. And as you thought of Mark you wondered, How death could be so mean. But if you looked in heaven, There I'm sure he'd be. And a gayer, happier boy, You would never see. Now that he is gone, We should pledge anew to give, And do as Mark would have done, Had he had the chance to live! By: Dena Hall Mark Pipkins was an inspiration to me as I know he was to you. He brought happiness into the lives of everyone he touched. You always saw him with a smiling face and a pleasant attitude. Though Mark doesn't walk beside us anymore, his memory lives in our hearts and minds. Our lives should have been changed just by knowing him. For even in sickness he wanted his family to be happy. Mark meant something special to everyone. But to me, though not related, he is the only brother I will ever have.
