THE 1967-68 YEARBOOK STAFF OF CLINTON HIGH SCHOOL CLINTON, ARKANSAS PRESENTS VOLUME 26 of THE TORCH •vs i A-': 1 v - . Our modern buildings and classrooms don’t resemble those of the late 1930’s very much. More important, though, than the changeable surroundings lies something time cannot erase. It is that ember of school love, that warmness of old memories, burning in the hearts of the alumni. Buster Bramlett gives tackier a long haul in Haber Springs game, ending with a score of 13-6. Clinton Band participates in parades, school activities, and spirit-making. ALMA MATER Hail, Alma Mater, hats off to you. Ever you'll find us loyal and true. Glory and Honor, always will be. Hail to the school we love: Here's a toast to thee. Cheerleaders Float wins first place in County Fair Parade. Senior girls rout local rival Scotland - 51-37. Assemblies are a common oc- currence at Clinton High. Here the Hillbilly Band performs a knee-slappin', foot-stompin', jamboree given by the Agri- culture Department. 2 w ™CONTENTS INTRODUCTION..............1-4 ADMINISTRATION...........5-15 HONORS..................16-17 CLASSES.................19-40 ORGANIZATIONS...........41-52 PERSONALITIES...........53-64 ATHLETICS...............65-78 JUNIOR HIGH.............79-90 GRADE SCHOOL...........91-106 ADVERTISEMENTS........107-128 THIS IS CHS Students ... settling down after va- cation ... special smiles for spe- cial friends ... boredom ... en- thusiasm ... school spirit ... quiet study ... enjoying a book ... eyes gazing, but not seeing ... pande- monium in the cafeteria ... rushed walks to classes ... fond memories. DEDICA TION 4 This year the 1968 Torch staff dedicates The Torch to Mr. W. H. Morton. He is the man well known for his warm heart and winning smile. He is quick to praise and eager to help the Senior class, of which he is co-sponsor. Often we forget to thank Mr. Morton, but we know he needs no thanks. Being able to help is enough for him. He has been an inspiration to each of his stu- dents. He remains a fond memory in the hearts of those who come in contact with him. Mr. Morton, through his warm, generous spirit, has proved himself a man dependable and worthy of high respect. He is the rock that remains standing through the turbulence of the school year. We extend to him at least a portion of the respect due him through this memory. Humbly we thank Mr. Morton for helping us to help ourselves. MR. W. H. MORTON 4 ADMINISTRATION - GUIDES STUDENTS MR. Remember me like you know, and to Heaven I hope you’ll go, — a classmate IN MEMORIAM . . Benny was kind, helpful, trustworthy, loyal, friendly, courteous, obedient, cheerful, brave, clean and reverent, just like a good Scout should be. But to me he was more than a Scout, he was a good friend. When he played, he played fair, and when he tried, he tried as hard as he could. --a classmate Benny was liked by his classmates as well as his fellow Boy Scouts, family and just plain old friends, of which he had many.
