Our class sponsors were Mr. Homer Jones and Mr. Ralph Hutto. We elected Ernest Smith as class president. Our class was well represented by Sherry Lewis as our Homecoming Maid and Ann Bradford as our candidate for Fair Queen. Our money-making projects were rather slow the first year. Some of our big events were the FHA and FFA initiations and the State Fair, We ended our first high school year with a class trip to Fair Park and Lake Nixon. This was one of our never-to-be-forgotten trips. Our sophomore year began in August, 1958, with a class enrollment of 43 members. Our class sponsors were Mrs. Frances Perkins and Mr. Bobby Smith. We elected Dickey Hink as class president. Again Sherry Lewis was elected as Homecoming Maid, and Nancy Roten was elected as our Fair Queen candidate. This year we were more ambitious and undertook more money-raising projects. One of the big events of that year was getting to serve as usher at the Junior-Senior Banquet. Again we ended the year with a class trip--this time to Conway, swimming and skating. It rained cats and dogs , but we still had fun. We enrolled as juniors with a class of about 41 members. Our president was Paul Joyner, and vice- president was Jackie Whillock. Our class sponsors were Miss Elizabeth Winningham and Mr. Bobby Smith. We again elected Nancy Roten as our Fair Maid and Sherry Lewis as our Homecoming Maid. We continued the task of raising money with various projects and activities. The big highlight of our year was giving the 1959 senior class the annual Junior-Senior Banquet. The theme was Hawaiian Cruise . Everyone had a wonderful time. We came to realize that we would be seniors the following year more vividly when we ordered our class rings. Our sponsors accompanied us on our class trip to Conway, where we played miniature golf, dined at Tommy's Restaurant, and then went skating. Another wonderful time for our memory books. We started our senior year off with everyone in high spirits. Our class president was Jackie Whillock. Our sponsors were Mrs. Betty Pate and Mr. W. H, Morton. Enrolled in the class were 43 students. We felt we had become full-fledged seniors the day we started sporting our new class rings. Ann Bradford represented our class as Fair Queen. Betty Thompson was Homecoming Queen and Dana Smith was elected Homecoming Maid. We also continued our raising money for the senior class trip through this year, but at a greater speed. By semester we had raised over five-hundred dollars for our senior class trip. There were many happy hours to remember during our senior year. We all enjoyed selecting our graduating gowns, class colors-blue and white, motto- The End—and yet the Beginning. , class flower- red carnation, and invitation cards. We looked forward all year to the annual Junior-Senior Banquet in our honor. The Banquet was de- lightful and we all had a wonderful time. Next came the busy task of sending our invitiation cards, opening our gifts, and sending our Thank You” cards. Everyone started looking forward to the great senior class trip. Finally the day came for us to leave. We went to the Gulf and stayed in Buloxi, Mississippi and New Orleans, Louisiana. After our class trip, which lived up to every expectation, we started getting ready for our Bacculaur- eate Service and Graduation Exercises. Bacculaureate Services were held on May 15, 1960; we graduated on May 16, 1960, thus ending, a little sadly but gloriously, our high school days.
