Of e future fs Open As boys and girls enter high school, they accept more of a responsibility. There are some who set their goal at the beginning and aim to keep it. Then there are others who always put things off until tomorrow. During the early high school years everyone looks up to those lucky sen- iors and wished it were their last year, too. It seems as though you yourself will never get that diploma. Finally comes that last year which we have looked for. A lot of people ask us what we will be doing after graduation. We stand speechless. Well, to tell the truth, we hadn't thought much about it. Then we start thinking about our future. Some of us get quite scared when we think about it, we wish now we’d done differently at the start. But now the future is upon us and we will meet the challenges with the training we have received. Sharon Salisbury, Editor fie Last ffours On the morning of June 8, 1961, you wake up and all of a sudden it hits you in the face that this is the day you have been waiting for, for twelve years. You had told everyone that you couldn't wait to graduate, but now the day has come and you're not in such a hurry to leave that old school house any more. You go to school and the teacher hands you your report card. The bell rings and just like every other day of the school year, you walk out of the school house with your classmates. Shouts of joy come from the freshmen, sophomores and juniors. You don't shout. Because you are regretful that you are leaving that so called jailhouse never to return. The time has come for Mr. Springer to shake your right hand while he places your diploma in your left hand. As you turn and walk back to your seat, all your classmates smile at you, but it's not a happy smile. It's more of a little push from each to keep you going. As Mr. Springer hands out the last few diplomas you feel as though you just can't stand to leave all these classmates. Suddenly, an inner voice says, This isn't the end, but only the beginning. Linda Welch, Assistant Editor
