•• . . I 8 Dedication We, the class of 1960, dedicate our yearbook to Miss Priscilla Co- burn, our friend and teacher, be- cause of her tireless effort in mak- ing our yearbook a great success. We shall never forget all the kind deeds you have done during our years at Clinton High. In Memory Of MERVYN A. PERRY In the years we’ve been in school And the ones we've spent with you These moments we spent together were blest. Each day you greeted us with a cheery smile To brighten each pupil at the new morn. With rue, our hearts are heavy Recalling the fatal day with silence By us for the man whom we all loved. And now with memory filled hearts We must say adieu. By Camilla Bessey 9 Hrk' PRISCILLA COBURN MARY ANN O'CONNOR GIRLANDINE LIBBY Commercial Auburn Maine School Of Commerce Four Years at C.H.S. WHAT WE HAVE ACCOMPLISHED Sometimes during the long evenings I often wonder, What have we really accom- plished in our four years at Clinton High?' Although some of us haven't learned as much from books as we could have; we have gained a great deal of wealth in other ways. We have made new friends, competed in school sports, and taken part in school activities. Often we have wondered how the teachers could put up with us. This is another ex- ample that makes us feel we have accomplished an understanding of how difficult a room full of students can be. Now that we have reached the end of our four years, we have realized that adults are often more patient and understanding than we give them credit. If we haven't met these standards of accomplishments in the past, perhaps we can in the future. Editor-in-Chief Cyndra Wishart SHOULD I GO TO COLLEGE? Many high school seniors are asking themselves this question as their senior year ends. Should I go to college? If a student has the academic ability and the will to leam, he should go to college. However, some students feel thay haven't the necessary funds to attend. II they would only look about them they would find many ways of securing financial aid such as: fed- eral loans, summer jobs, and scholarships. It has been reported that many colleges have unclaimed scholarships. Other seniors, wishing to be wage earners, consider four years of college too long a delay. Statistics show that by having a college education more money is earned in a lifetime than by non-college graduates. Therefore seniors should go to college, not only for the prestige of a college degree or to earn more money, but to help their mind grow toward the utmost fulfillment of their abilities. Asst. Boys' Basketball The Clinton High School Tigers started their basketball season with a new coach, Mr. Thomas Pooler. After the first few weeks of practice in November, the boys were divided into two groups, Varsity and Junior Varsity. The varsity boys practiced from three to four times a week at the town hall after school. Many changes took place as the season rolled on. With the determination and will of the squad, and the successful coaching from Mr. Pooler, the boys completed a very successful year by winning the K. V. C. trophy over Richmond. The boys entered the tournament at Livermore Falls, playing with Leavitt, by los- ing 48 to 60. The team had two alternates, Larry Hunter and Butch Witham. The J. V. 's had a successful season by winning eleven games out of eighteen, coach- ed by Mr. Pendleton. TIMOTHY WEYMOUTH Senior Sponsored by HATHAWAY SHIRT CO. EMERY-BROWN CO. LEVINE’S SEARS ROEBUCK CO. Tryouts began in Octo- ber to choose three new cheerleaders and an alternate. From these tryouts, Prudy Whit- ten, Sonya Frost, Linda Welch, and Joanne Stinson were chosen. After our first game Caron Nelson had to leave us so Joanne became a full time cheerleader. We had two more successful games when Sandra Chase fell ill and also had to leave. Of course, this meant more tryouts so we began once again to search for a new cheerleader and an alternate in case anyone else became sick. The two new girls added to our squad are Gail Gauthier and Janice Russell. Again, we thought things were back to normal, but 1 no sooner were we settled when our head cheerleader, Mary Beales, had to leave. This made Janice a permanent cheerer.. Since then cheering has been normal and we all hope there will be no more switching. The Ski-Land Woolen Mill purchased us new sweaters and skirts. We wish to take this opportunity to express our appreciation to the mill for buying us the sweaters and cloth, and, also, to our mothers for making them. All in all, we have had a very successful year in cheering our boys to victory. L. Welch, G. Gauthier, P. Whitten, A. Fuller, J. Stinson, S. Frost, J. Russell.
