To qualify for a school bus driving position, a student must be sixteen years old and have a South Carolina driver's license. He must have good conduct grades and must be passing at least three of his subjects: the student must also be dependable, courteous, and cooperative. He must have a good driving record with no serious traffic violations. If the student has these qualifications, he will then be allowed to take the school bus training given by the State Highway Department. This training program lasts for three days. The first day is spent in class learning the rules and regulations for the proper operation of a school busg the second day the student re- ceives instructions and driver's training in the bus. On the third day he practices driving and then takes an examination. If he passes this test, he will receive a school bus driver's license.
