DIARY OF A 1950 GRADUATE FIFTEEN YEARS LATER January 4, 1965 Dear Diary, It’s raining tonight, so I decided to spend one of those quiet evenings at home and rest up for my trip. Not long ago I received a letter from Winifred Craft, who is married now and living in South Bend. She wrote that she would like to look up some of the old'gang, just out of curiosity (you know girls). So we planned to start traveling in opposite directions to see how many of our classmates of 1950 we can locate. Tomorrow morning each of us will begin our trip; then on the 19th of this month we will meet in Chicago to compare notes. That gives us exactly two weeks for our jaunt. January 5, 1965 Dear Diary, I couldn’t find anyone here in Michigan where I live, so I took a hop, skip, and a jump to New York, lovely place to try to find somebody. January 8, 1965 Dear Diary, Well, I had no trouble finding Betty McLeish who is drawing the blueprints for a new theater on Fifth Avenue. Betty told me that Louis Pilipovich and Larry Kite are bossing the job. I had dinner with Joe Lane and Bob Anderson who are pilots for some big airline here. They said that Rosemary Berto, Joann Bertolino, and Jeri Brookbankare air hostesses for the same company and that Archie McLeish operates the telegraph set there, along with about four other jobs. Got a small note from Winifred. She’s in Hollywood.’la-de-da”. She had lunch one day with John Moore and Wayne Beard who are starring in a musical, “The Old Gold and Black’’. It seems that Eugene and Joe Rodich are stagehands on the same set. Bill Donzero is also in Hollywood giv.ing the girls a big rush. January 12, 1965 Dear Diary, I am now in Florida and am about the color of a ripe tomato. There was no sun like this in Indiana. I saw Virginia Bonucchi in the hotel; she is quite the young executive with her chain of dress shops. With her are Eleanor Straw , her secretary, and Jane Pesavento, Betty Jo Ricauda and Joan Lawson who are working as models. Joe Volk and Chris Wright are her advertising managers. Jim Reeder is down here trying to breed some kind of tropical chicken. While walking down the street, I met Jerry Ferguson, in the flesh. He’s an M. D. here (poor invalids!). He told me that Barbara Christopher and Charles Massa graduated from I. U. Medical School the same time he did. Chuck Massa is a general practitioner in a small town near here and Barbara Christopher has gone overseas with a specialized medical unit. Winifred called me today. She’s in the wild, wild West, (Wyoming). She managed to find Louanna Jones who is working with Indian orphans. ‘ ‘ Wahoo’ ’ ! Elaine Kiser has her own Bible school nearby. 28
