KU Syd? of 87.4 The Blue Star Mothers of Cllnton Mmchxgan were orgamzed May 27 1943 They were the Mothers of men and women m SCYVICC orgamzed to help ln whatever way they could those m servlce or thexr famllles They dnd the followmg m the three years they were orgamzed They dlsbanded IH October 1946 A glft falued at 82.50 was glven to every one leavmg for servlce 279 cards were sent fthey were blrthday sympathy and get well cardsj 14 baskets of fruit, 15 txmes they sent plants and flowers 5 boxes to wounded servlce men S150 ln money glfts to was ded men S35 to Salvatlon Army S25 to Selfrldge Fxeld Hospltal S100 to Re- habihtatxon Home at Indlan Lake S210 to Red Cross and S367 m Chlstmas Box Fund The followmg was donated to Percy Jones Hospltal S32 for magazines S50 for a h trays and tollet artlcles S58 for supplles S60 for records S95 for wheel chan' Other than money 5 bedslde radlos 12 dozen part wool socks 125 packed Christmas boxes 100 dozen home made CO0kl9S 50 bars to1let soap 100 Jig saw puzzles 30 playmg cards 20 cosmetxc boxes 300 palrs scuffels magazmes and funny books and gifts for the glft shop valued at S150 F01 Chfl tmas of 1949 and 1944 they helped buy and pack the boxes and for Chrxstmas of 1945 sent greetmg cards wlth S5 enclosed to those m servxce March 1946 they gave a banquet for all returned servlce men and their wives, follovsed by dancmg The fxrst offlcers were President Mrs Hazel Sell V100 Pre ldent Mrs J R Foreman Secretary Mrs Arlo Warner Correspondmg Secretary Mrs Frank Rawson Chaplain Mrs E W Myers Press Correspondent Mrs Leon Van Deusen Nl ays and Means Chalrman Mrs Harry Werth The Blue Star Mothers are grateful and thank everyone who helped make their three years a success PTA Clmton High School Parent Teachers Assoclatlon resumed actxvxtles m Septem ber of 1945 after a lapse of several years Under the leadership of Mrs Henry Vaughan presldent who was assisted by Mrs John Feldkamp, Mrs Cecil Woodward and Mrs Harold Kxebler ln the other offxces the PTA had a full year wlth a large attendance at every meetlng The two mam projects sponsored by the group wele promotlon of the county health U lt and mvestlgatlon of the reorgamzatlon of the Llmton School system to mclude adgommg school dlstrlcts Capable speakers were obtamed and open forums held on the sublect The 1946 47 offlcers, led by presxdent Mrs Gfuy Hoover attempted ln thexr program plans for the year to promote better understandmg of just what was bemg done ln the vauous departments of the school and the seven programs held durmg the year featured the departments m turn startmg wxth the bhop and Agriculture Department and ndmg mth Home Economlcs The P T A asslsted the band mothers ln a very successful Harvest Festlval which netted nearly S400 for the band mstruments fund ln November In Aurxl the P T A. IH cooperatlon wlth the county health department sponsored a two day sernes or health conferences for chlldren m the flrst elght grades who wen: selected by their teachers and the exammmg nurses for further xammatlon by br riuntley, head of the county health department A total ot 55 chlldren from 49 fanulxes were exammed and recommendatlons for treatment made Seven chlldren from the rural schools of the township also were brought m to the conference The plans for next year mclude health exammatxons Ior all chxldren from Kmder garden through the 12th grade m the Clmton schools Offlcers or the commg year s actxvltxes mclude Mrs Guy Hoover presldent Mrs Many Werth vice presldent Mrs John Admon, secretary Mrs Clarence Helmdmger K J luotleu The Band Mother's Club IS an organizatlon composed of the. mothers of the band members It sponsors the band, keeps the band umforms ln order, and renders assxstance to the Dlrectors of the Muslc Department wnenever necessary.
