ff Alain, J 4-mia A Tribute to the Past FOOTBALL BANQUET This picture of the December 16 1937 Football Banquet with H C Kiebler as chairman recalls memories of a gala event ln Clinton athletlc history The football teams and coaches from Manchester and Tecumseh were special guests, giving them an opportunity to hear the speaker Charles Bachman head football coach from Michigan State College the late H H Halladay former Secretary of Michigan State College and D1 J R Foreman, who was for many years president of the Board of Education and who was always willing to give some friendly advice and encour agement to all The Football Happenings of 1937 were reviewed by George Raswson, captain of the team Musical selections were given by the High School Orchestra. The awards were presented by Coach Raymond Bill Anglemyre, who has been connected with the sports in Clinton High for some 14 years. Clinton finished the football season wtih an enviable record of five wins, two losses and one tie. The highlight of the season was a 23 to 0 victory over Tecumseh. The team featured a superb backfield composed of Chuck Way, Gene Sell, Hank Smith, and Glen Harrison. In the Tecumseh game Chuck accounted for two of Clinton's touchdowns by grabbing one of Jack Harrison's passes in the end zone in the fourth quarter and later by running 50 yards for a touchdown after intercepting a Tecumseh pass at midfield. Charles L. Way entered the competitive game of war and made the supreme sacrifice. Chuck was held in high regard by the officers and men of his squadron and all who knew him. Lieut. Way exemplified everything that was fine, upright and proper in a man and officer. -Frederick B. Reise, Capt A. C. A fine example for Clinton athletes. Page Fifty-seven
