Without your courage and determination, spirit and fortitude, we would not have the ability to strive for our dreams. You will always be remem- bered. So to you Mr. Willis, Mr. Ricci. Mr. Balvin, and Mrs. Galeski, THANK YOU. i 2 We must also give our heartfelt thanks to you. Mrs. Strang. Your domineering spirit lead us through the years. You were not only our librarian and advisor, but a loyal and dedicated friend. You will always be remembered in our thoughts. 4 FRESHMAN YEAR — ’84-’ 85 v As we began our first year at C H S., the class of 1988 was disorganized and a bit nervous. Before we knew it. Spirit Week had arrived. We worked hard to show the other classes what a special group we really were. We placed second in class attend- ance, and amazingly we tied for second in the all-important hall decorating contest. Throughout the year we acted as typical freshmen, wandering the halls in search of the elevator and the student lounge. We elected as our first year officers Pres- ident Maureen Gour, Vice-President Flor- ence Parker, Secretary Kerrie Philbin, and Treasurer Jean Kittredge. The summer of ’85 rapidly approached, and we were all happy to move on to bigger and better things during our sophomore year. 5 SOPHOMORE YEAR — ’85-’86 Our second year brought about a change in our status as we were given more responsibility and more work. Kristen McNamara was selected as President, Florence Parker as Vice President, Kerrie Philbin as Secretary, and Jean Kit- tredge as Treasurer. We placed third during Spirit Week, but we took with us fond memories. Our advisors. Mrs. Strang and Mr. Ricci, helped us through this trying period with the reminder that bigger and better things were awaiting us in the next two years. 6 JUNIOR YEAR — ’86-’87 Our much anticipated junior year finally arrived. Our first big event was Spirit Week and the Homecoming Dance. We dis- tinguished ourselves during the week by winning or placing second in many events including a first place in the Class Poem, written by Jennifer Bracy. The week ended on a high note with one of the most success- ful Homecoming Dances in memory. The Interclass Dramatics was also a suc- cess for our class as we won two awards the Best Play and the Best Actor which was pre- sented to John Parent. The highlight of the year occurred in May when we held our Junior Prom at the Best Western Royal Plaza Hotel. The officers who led us through this busy year were President Tom Smith, Vice- President Jim Lowe, Secretary Kerrie Philbin, and Treasurer Jean Kittredge. As the year closed, we were determined to make our final year a time to remember. 7 SENIOR YEAR — ’87-’88 Our last year at CHS was filled with many activities. Tom Smith was again elected as President. Mayra Perez as Vice President, Kerrie Philbin as Secretary, and Todd Re- gonini as Treasurer. With elections over, most of us were busy filling out applications for college and schol- arships. followed, of course, by the “waiting game.” Our last football rally spurred the Gaels on to an upset victory over St. Bernard ' s on Thanksgiving. Christmas came and went quickly, and the Senior Hop arrived in no time. March 26. 1988. was the night of our last formal dance as a class. As the end of the year approached, we were anxious to go but sad to leave. Senior week began on May 29 with Baccalaureate ceremonies. On June 1, we journeyed to Frank Davis Resort for an unforgettable class trip The next night we celebrated our Senior Banquet, an evening we will not soon forget, at the White Cliffs. Finally, the main event arrived on June 4 when we received our diplomas and said our farewells to Clinton High. None of the year ' s activities would have been possible without the help of Mrs. Ga- leski and Mr Balvin, our friends and advisors, who gave so much extra time to help us. 8 9 STUDENT DIRECTORY Christopher Allen — Chris — Tennis 4; Chess Club Russell Allen — Russ — Audio-Visual Club 1,2, 3,4; Interclass Dramatics 2; All School Play 1; S.A.D.D. 4 Jennifer Baer — Homeroom Representative 1.2; Spanish Club 1.2, 3. 4; International Club 3.4; Math Club 2; S.A.I.L. The cast “waited in wings” nervously, but they did themselves proud although they won no awards. Junior year arrived with an excited group desirous to make their play, “One Happy Family”, the best. The players gave a superb pro- duction, and for their efforts they won Best Play. John Parent received Best Actor, and Mark Pizza won an Honorable Mention. At the beginning of our senior year the newly elected officers were: Mark Pizza as Pres- ident, Son Chu Kim as Vice-President, and Stephanie Joyce as Secretary Treasurer This club was under the direction of Mrs. Dorsey who replaced Mr. Philbin as advisor. The highlights of our four years were: seeing the Rockettes, the Broadway Show A Chorus Line”, the Renoir exhibit, the United Nations, and the Quebec Nordiques in ac- tion. We visited large cities such as Boston, New York City, Quebec, and Montreal in Canada, and in the summer of our sophomore year we traveled to France and England. During the last two years the International Club was graced with the presence of three exchange students who were active members. The first to enter Clinton High was Joanne Cash from Ireland. The two who joined during our senior year were Johan Thorfinn from Sweden and Junior Steven Moffitt who was also from Ireland. All of these students enjoyed their experience in our country, and particularly their time at Clinton High School. Joanne Cash AUDIO VISUAL TEAM; (left to right) Bemie Rivera, Kevin Spear. I! !!!: IJHII aaun iaaiiir aaiiin ■aaini aiaain A disappointing season for Clinton High School ' s football team ended in a thrilling victory over St. Bernard’s on Thanksgiving Day. Fourteen senior members led the undermanned squad to a record of 3-7 under the direction of Head Coach Archie Cataldi. Andrew Garofoli, Sean Gorman. Matt Russell, and Cesar Velazquez served as captains and team leaders throughout the season. After preseason practices Clinton appeared to be headed for a successful season. However, the team suffered discouraging losses in the first two games, only to bounce back to gain victories in the next two. Controversial calls and bad bounces, coupled with injury, plagued the team during the remainder of the season as they lost the next five games. The highlight of the season was the final game against St. Bernard ' s. The Gaels overcame tremendous odds to beat the home team 20 to 6. It was a fitting end for the seniors who. through their hard work, deserved a final victory. 51 a, Jim McDonald Jim Russell Carl Moran i Jim Lowe Sean Cassidy 52 r Rick Gebhardt John O ' Malley 53 OPPONENT Hudson Lincoln-Sudbury Millbury Acton-Boxboro Westboro Marlboro Algonquin Milford Hudson Lincoln-Sudbury Millbury Acton-Boxboro Westboro Marlboro Algonquin Milford Top Row left to nght) Maureen Fitzgerald, Rorence At the conclusion of this year’s CHS volleyball season, the senior Gaels realized that it was Parker. This year ' s squad under the direction of Donna Baird worked many long hours learning routines that have entertained the students at rallies and the crowd at games. One of the highlights of the year was winning a trophy for a fourth place finish at the Northeast Regional 5th Annual Dance and Cheer Tournament. The 1987 Field Hockey squad could be classified as a group of gids who never gave up and never gave in Their spirits did not fall as they fell behind. They worked even harder to win. Although they were seldom victorious, they always ran, drove, flicked, pushed, scooped, and tackled to the best of their ability. Kathy, Julie, Kerrie, Jean, Kris, Anne and Kelly will have many moments to remember in the years to come, such as the honor of carrying Sticks , and their elusive victory over perennial powerhouse Milford.
