On the night ol October 26, 19S5 came our long-awaited Homecoming Dance. We all got down to music played by disc jockex Mark Johnson and it seemed like the special night would never come to an end. Crowned as Homecoming queen was Christa Boydack with Denise Silvester, Paula Kutkowski. Jeannie Kabideau. Marcs Janda, Shawna Kells, and Glenda Morales serving on her royal court. ' Just Once would this special night come for us and we celebrated it with much jubilation and pride for being the leading class of Spirit Week. Under the limelight as queen was Lisa Belanger, taking with her Kathy Williamson, Denise Silvester, Johnna Desautels, Ann Freel, Dolores Cafarelli and Christa Boydack as her court. They should not be so. For although our physical hands cannot reach them, we can touch them in other ways. Let stars stand for those things which are ideal and radiant in life . if we seek sincerely and strive hard enough, it is not impossible to reach them, even though the goals seem distant at the onset. And how often do we touch stars when we find them close by in the shining lives of great souls, in the sparkling universe of humanity around us! The Gaels were led by head coach Archie Cataldi and assistant coaches Tony Gannon and Tom Vetras. With the leadership of captains Scott Connolly, Jeff Innamorati, Scott O’Toole and Kokes Zahariadis, the Gaels spent long, grueling hours on the practice field improving their strength and skill. With the return of night games at Fuller Field, the excitement of the fans increased and the Gaels’ record soared to 3-2 with wins over Hudson, Marlboro and Maynard. With strong effort and determination the Gaels stuck together through a long and adverse season to regain the unforgettable Gael pride. This year brought new opportunities — to show the freshmen the ropes by giving them the same treatment given us and to be proud that we were no longer the “dirt of the school. Being more sure of ourselves, we came through the Spirit Week competition as third place winners. The many hours we spent decorating and preparing were worth every minute. We beautified our hall with everything from aluminum foil stars to a huge three-dimensional 87. During the rally, an excited Mona Christie crossed the finish line of the tricycle race first leaving the presidents of the other classes trailing behind! Our Class Officers: M ona Christie, President; Christa Boydack, Vice President; Johnna Desautels, Secretary; and Maureen Bonin, Treasurer, led us through the many trying times and prepared us (mentally and financially) for our two most important events — Junior and Senior year. Our final year at C H S. came upon us more quickly than was expected. Our Class Officers didn’t realize what they were in for — as this would be the busiest year of all. They included: Jeff Peto, President; Lisa Belanger, Vice President; Colleen Liddv, Secretary; and Maureen Bonin, Treasurer. These students did an excellent job during the many trials and tribulations we experienced before graduation. Spirit Week was a tremendous success for the Class of ' 87. When the points were tallied, we arose once again as winners. As the band played “Tequila, we all danced ecstatically around the gymnasium floor. (Even Mr. Balvin got into it!) Many of us were saddened by the thought that this was our closing hour at C.H.S., but we made the best of all the times we had. Our freshman year at C.H.S. was a time of growing and learning. Our first job, electing our Class Officers, was a success. They included: John Despotopulos, President; Scott Connolly, Vice President; Amy Donnini, Secretary; and Colleen Liddy, Treasurer. Although we were intimidated by the upperclassmen, we, along with our advisors, Beverly Menegus and Carl Mellvaine, spent much time and effort readying ourselves for the main event — Spirit Week. Despite jeers of dirt from our fellow students, we didn t give up. Proud poets Mona Christie and Carol Letourneau triumphed in first place in the Class Poem contest. The rest of our first year at C H S. was typical of the bewildered freshman. At the end of the year, we finally felt that we belonged and we were excited to prepare ourselves for the next obstacle — sophomore year. As junior year began, our conceit level was a bit high since we knew now that we were finally upperclassmen! We began by selecting Class Officers — Jeff Peto, President; Fran Bedard, Vice President; Colleen Liddy, Secretary; and Maureen Bonin, Treasurer. They guided us through our fund-raisers including a Christmas raffle and selling carnations. Our new Advisors, Anne Galeski and Joseph Balvin, were also a great support for us during our direction of Spirit Week and other class activities. Spirit Week was a thrilling time for the Class of 1987. We were victorious in many competitions including Hall Decorating, Class Poster, Green Gold Day and last but not least, the Class with the Most Spirit! The highlights of the week, though, were the Homecoming Game and the dance which followed. Our theme, Just Once, was appropriate since only once would we experience this special night. 83 GAMETIME (NICKNAMES) DOWN CLUES ACROSS CLUES WORD LIST: GAMETIME (NICKNAMES) 1 . HUM BY 3. GRACE TIME TO MOVE ON 85 A TIME FOR CHANGE Walk On By Hang ’Em High ' Coolin ' Off On Sunday, May 31, 1987 our Baccalaureate Service was held in Mitchell Memorial Auditorium. Dressed in our caps and gowns for the first time, we listened intently to the blessing ot Reverend Edward Chalmers of St. John the Evangelist Church in Clinton. After singing our class song, “That’s What Friends Are For, we marched out, all ol us with visions of our final week together as a class. “ Looks Like We’ve Made It! ' Pres. Jeff Peto FUN TIMES Senior W eek officiallx began on June 2, 1987 when we all traveled to the Frank Davis Resort in Nloodus. CT tor our Class Trip. The day was tilled with tun. tood, and frolic as we swam, raced canoes, rode horses, and enjoyed the many field events. Wh en all the excitement faded and we mounted the buses to return home, we looked forward to the remaining activities of our final week together. 89 91 PARTY TIME On June 4, 1987, our Class Banquet was held at the White Cliffs in Northboro. We finally realized that this was our last chance to enjoy ourselves as a class. We dined and danced to the music of “Glass Leaf. But, of course, a party isn’t a party until the seniors take over the instruments for a little enter- tainment and humor of their own! As the night wore on and the fun wore off, thoughts of graduation swept through our minds, as we looked forward to that special day. 93 OUR FINAL HOUR On Saturdax . Juno ( 19S7, wo all gathered together tor our final hour — graduation. After hearing the meaningful and inspirational speeches of Class President Jett Peto. Valedictorian Scott Connolly, Salutatorian Shannon O Connell. Chris Taylor and Lisa Ciansanti. w e sloxxlx inarched across the platform to receix e our diplomas We were no longer mere high school students — w e were adults, reach and w illing to face life in the real world. These past tour years strengthened and matured each and even one of us in character and in mind. Nothing can stop us now. ’87! “Give to the world the best you have, follow the honest and dedicated leaders of our society and become citizens of integrity. Louisa May Alcott CLASS COLORS Roval Blue and Silver CLASS ADVISORS Mr. Joseph Balvin Mrs. Anne Galeski 97 THE TRUE MEANING OF GAEL SPIRIT Our years have passed at Clinton High, and now it ' s time to suy good-bve. But tirst we d like to take a rest, and take the time to reminisce. Three years have gone by since our freshman year. Since that time we’ve allayed our tears. Our senior class no longer cowers when booed. Instead we bounce back with our spirited mood. Our sophomore year soon commenced. An air of leadership from our peers was sensed. Our academics were more advanced, and hopes of success left us entranced. Then junior year finally came, and upperclassmen we were named. During Spirit W eek our vigor was high. and when announced victors we expressed more than a sigh. Our senior year is beginning to unravel, the maudlin end of our high school travels. Our last expressions of Gael Spirit are given, for it has always been towards pride that we have striven. Our feelings, we know, will best be described, when that day of graduation finally arrives. Our credence in the futurity of Clinton High cannot be sup and we are obliged to leave the underclassmen impressed. This we know, is a surmountable feat, because our attitude just can’t be beat. Our spirit, spunk, and absolute pride, can not and will not be explicitly denied. fhe true meaning of Gael Spirit will forever be extolled, for as we journey from this school and our life-long careers we 11 faithfully refer to what we have learned and shared he And to of Clinton High we bestow a zealous cheer. by Carol Letourneau and Amy Dor is CLINTON OFFSET PRINTERS, INC. 472 High Street Clinton, Massachusetts 01510 Telephone (617) 365-4396 Letterpress - Offset - Silk Screen CONGRATULATIONS!! Before you give your hard earned money over to some smiling college financial officer, be sure you ' re buying the best college for you. At our college we also have a smiling financial officer. Our fnancial offcer knows the value of a dollar, and also knows the value of the education you will receive from Atlantic Union College. What you ' ll be buying are classes taught by professors, not graduate students that many larger colleges and universities use. Professors, who compose a faculty of pro- fessional educators who have earned their degrees from places like, Cambridge Uni- versity, Harvard University, Eastman School of Music, Boston University an d many more of the fnest universities in the world. What you’ll be buying is one of the most exciting educational environments in the nation.
