For 14 years Mr. Gallagher taught his students not only the routine lessons of grammar, composition, and literature, but also shared with them the wealth of knowledge that he had acquired through his experiences outside of the classroom. His wry sense of humor often brightened up an otherwise dreary day. His presence here was a credit to Clinton High School, and he will surely be missed by all who knew him. Mr. Donald J. Brian and Eddie Holland 2 CELEBRATION Celebrat e good times, come on! Some of the best times we shared together during our time at Clinton High involved the pageantry surround- ing the annual Spirit Week festivities. It was then when we temporarily put our academic worries aside and instead con- centrated on showing our Gael Spirit for the Class of ' 86. Although overall victory eluded our grasp each time, we managed to score our share of points in the various competitions, including the Class Cheer, which we succeeded in winning in each of our four years. And who can forget our hall-decorating triumph Junior Year? No matter what the outcome was, each year we strengthened the many bonds of friendship between us and grew closer together as a class, all w hile “celebrating” our high school years together. 2 H 29 INTO THE NIGHT Topping oft Spirit Week was t lie evening that we eagerly awaited — the Homecoming Dance. We were all dressed to kill as we boogied “into the night” to our favorite tunes, plaved b W ' AAF’s Jeff Berlin. Gina Boston’s “daydreams” came true as she was crowned Homecoming Queen. Her court consisted of Lori Baird, Doreen Gorski, Tina Schmidt, and Patti Weego. Our “sharpest dressed man” was Toby Crowley, whose court included Chuck Bernard, Alain Goulet, Mark Lutes, and John Moran. No doubt about it, the Homecoming Dances gave us some of the w ildest times we had together, and surely some of the most memorable. 30 31 HEAVEN As the sweet smell of spring filled the air our attention turned to the “gala event of our Junior Year — the prom, which was held at the Holiday Inn in Marlboro. We all looked absolutely “marvelous in our gowns and tuxedos, making for some difficult decisions for the judges who had to determine the Royal Court. Pam Iacobucci emerged as the Queen, and she was accompanied by a court of Lisa Lavallee, Suzanne McGrail, Alesha Monteiro, and Mary Pat Ward. Kevin Ciciotte was chosen King, with Mike Duffy, Walter O’Connor, Mike Pizza, and Rob Rabideau acting as Courtiers. As “Fantasia” played our theme, it seemed as if we were in our own private “Heaven.” VI BORN TO BE WILD in 11. hris ( ravedi 12. Lisa Petel 13. lulie Magowan 14. Ijori Baird 15. Crystal Ringlancl 16. During the holiday season we sponsored a sale of German Advent Calendars. In March, we embarked on a day trip to New York City, where we appropriately toured the United Nations, as well as viewing “A Chorus Line” on Broadway. Led by a stubborn defense, Coach Archie Cataldi’s troops refused to go down without a struggle. Captains Chuck Bernard, Randy Boydack, Toby Crowley, and Joe Saw- yer, along with the remaining Seniors, poured their “blood, sweat, and tears” into the program in order to restore a sense ol Gael pride there. Hopefully their efforts will pay off in the future. Randy Boydack Chuck Bernard 63 WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH — THE TOUGH GET GOING Thanks to the superb coaching of Gen Novia and the leadership of tri-captains Kathy Gadomski. Suzanne McGrail, and Kim Oberg, the 1985 fall season was a successful one for the field hocke team, whose 5-6-6 record was not indicative of their consistently stellar performances. Chief among these was a late-season upset of Milford High, as the l aciv Gaels were the only ones to stain the otherwise flawless record of the Scarlet Hawks. The total team effort and Gael Spirit put forth b the Senior players showed everyone that “when the going got tough. they all “got going.” Kaihy Gadomski Kim Oberg Suzanne McGrail Alesha Monteiro Susan Fitch i 65 ALIVE AND KICKING Steve Harwood Chong Pang I he soccer team holds a distinctive spot in the 1985 fall season, this being Clinton High’s first year of competition ever in this sport. Although they were battling at the Junior Varsity level, our players’ devotion and enthusiasm enabled the Gaels to finish with a very respectable 3-9 record. Much of the credit goes to coach Boh Shtlalie and the Senior members of the squad for the confident leadership they displayed in their in- augural campaign, proving that soccer is definitely “alive and kicking” at ( .11. An upset vic- tory over Shrewsbury and a bit- ter one point loss to league champ Marlboro were indicative of the ups and downs experi- enced by tri-captains Steve Harwooci, Rui Medeiros, and Joe Sawyer and the rest of the Senior cagers in their final season. The high scoring tan- dem of Harwood and Sawyer was honored as both “twin towers” were named to the Midland League All-Star Team. Sean O’Donnell Rui Medeiros Edgar Romero 71 JUMP 1 ' he 1985-86 girls’ basketball season was a def- inite rebuilding year for Clinton High, and as a result the team consisted mainly of underclassmen. Jeanette Santiago was the on member of the Class of ' 86 who dared to “jump” in and try her luck on the hardwood court. Although the Lady Gaels tailed to v in a game under the direction of first year coach Bernie Gaughan, they began to show glimpses of future competitiveness. Jeanette deserves our praise for her willingness to work hard and her winning attitude. She definitely did herself and her class proud. Jeanette Santiago Jim Morin THE STROKE The Clinton High “Putters” had another extremely successf ul season on the golf links, narrowly missing their fourth consecutive Midland League title. Led by Seniors Fran Coleman, Jim Morin, Paul Mayou, Joe Garofoli, and Bill Coughlin, the Gaels finished with an 1 1-2-2 slate, completing a phenomenal four year record of 51-7-2 under Coach Donald Burgwinkle. Fran Coleman 73 STRIKE ZONE This year ' s edition of the Gael baseball team had one of the best seasons in C.H.S. history, finishing with a record of 15-5 and making it all the wa to the District Semifinals before bowing to Oxford High by only one run for the second straight year, fed by tri-captains joe Sawyer. Jack Wattu, and Todd Nugent as well as Senior catcher l ' obv Crowley, the Gaels managed to defeat every team in the Midland League at least once, including victories over perennial powerhouses Milford and Marlboro on their home turf. Coach Bernie Gaughan’s troops performed so well that they definitely earned the right to say that they rank among the greatest Clinton teams of all-time. I oby Crowley 74 75 TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALLGAME I he 1986 season was one of rebuilding for the Lady Gaels, who were hurt badly by losses from graduation. Coach Caesar DiTullio was forced to go with a young, inexperienced squad in the hopes of future successes, and this was evident in the team’s 5-1 1 record. The Seniors, led by home run-hitting Laurie Frisch, represented themselves well by playing with hustle and determination, as well as stepping aside gracefully for the “youth movement.” They deserve our praise for their efforts. Kristen Detiesare 76 Kathy Gadomski saw l )£ 77 j A Whisper of Gratitude to my Coach Bev Menegus Unlimited thanks, I extend to you. For without you what would 1 do? It is under your guidance, By which 1 grow. It is within your patience, 1 have die courage to try. It is through your faith, I find my confidence. It is through your kindness, I find a friend. It is you, I thank, without end. — Cindy Chartrand V . i Bernie Gaughan Donald Burgwiriklc- Bob Shilalic 78 Archie Cataldi Caesar DiTullio Gerry Foley Innamorati Geri Novia J 79 BORN TO RUN Dave Nladdocks Although ilic Clinton High Track Team was not regarded as a power to be reckoned with in the always tough Midland League, it can be said that the Gaels improved immensely during the past four years, to the point that they are no longer regarded as the league “doormat. Many members of our class have participated during this time, but the lone Senior to run in 86 was Dave Maddocks, who enjoyed considerable success in the grueling two-mile race. 1986 was also highlighted by the first ever girls team at C.H.S., initiated by Coach Noreen Beaulieu, who deserves much credit for it.
