F nv THE INDIAN Cl XSS HIS TORX Larly tn September of lf?-lfl vee ti entors ol -H were tntrodueeel is r o us to mton tgh Paustly sp ndmg our Grst semester becoming uquatnted vstth on anotlur ind leirn ng the unaceustom el routine of ehangtng om class to class at the proper time we found lrttle llllie for much else Finally howeyer rn February yye elected elass ofucers to l ad us tn plan ning for tlu Freshman Sophomore Hop Those ehosen were Presrd nt Pat VleGaheran Xrce prestdent Donald Apgar Secretary Doris Hoffman Treas ur r larle Compton Und r tlu dtrectton of the Sophomores We planned for the Hop whose motif was Lil Abner of eOmte strtp fame Lett outs and stlhouettes of tlu varrous characters hung about tlu walls vslule the eerlrng was coyered verth virt colored streamers Since even the mighty Seniors complimented us on yur first dance we felt happy to end our year with such 1 fine reputation electrng the same ofiicers for the class Our first important project and a btg one at that was the sellmg of class rtngs Although this task bore us no profits we were glad to devote our efforts toward tt for the sake of experience mostly for Earle rn handling money Again however our really blg enterprise lay rn the preparatlon of the Freshman Sophomore Hop Under our drrectton th1s ttme the Community House was decorated as a barn wrth hay spread about and vartous farm utensils even a surrey ltntng the walls This tdea proyed equally as successful as dtd the motrf of our first year As Junrors tn 1942 Vke started the year by electtng Pat VlcGaheran Presr dent Donald Apgar Vtce prestdent Allre Steyenson Secretary and Earle fomp on Sl reasurer lhe annual Junior Chrtstmas program afforded us our first real oppor unity to drsplay our yartous dramatic and poettc talents Our assignment veas to produce an entertatnment rn the Chustmas Splflf and to g1VQ appropriate lunngled g1fts to the Seniors We succeeded 1n th1s by means of a choral pro gram wrrtten and dtrected by Mr Fatrclough and a brlef play as medlum for h presentation of the glfts ln February the Jumors were veelcomely left the lunchroom by the Seniors who had had therr fun with tt Runnmg the cafeterla the rce cream counter tr d the candy clos t was a btg job but yy tth the cooperation of all We managed to earn qurte a bit of money from tt Our eluntor Prom that year veas gtven the theme of a modern night club 19 ue entttlecl the Communrty House the 44 Club Trying our best to carry ut this rdea vye decorated the building wtth blue and gold streamers and you 4 i.-. ..
