CCHS’s Fall and Winter Sports Banquets presented several awards to our sports oriented students. These presentations included: In football Brett Miller received the Most Valuable Player award. In Cross Country Kevin Volkcr was voted Most Valuable Team Member. Lee Luckcy was voted Most Valuable Player. Chris Junkcrt was chosen as most Valuable Player in Golf. For basketball Marty DcJayncs was the Hardest Worker, and Best Free Throw, and Jeff Bruner was Most Improved. Kevin Cray received Best Defense, and Rick Wclton earned Most Valuable Player. In girls Volleyball (JV) Missy Bryant was Most Valuable, Trcassa Torbert was Best Team Player, Denise Torbert, Best Hustler, and Christy Trent, Most Improved. For Varsity-Most Valuable Player-Wendy Jones. Best Team Player-Kay Belangee, Best Athlete Tisha Bryant, and Most Improved-Nancy Lappin. In girl’s basketball Sas Spencer received the Most Valuable Player, Wendy Jones was Most Improved, and Cheryl Sturgeon received Rookie of the Year.

Another year goes passing by Another promise here To some this brings a joyous smile To others brings a tear For 4 years you have tread a path From dawn to setting sun But now the path gets deeper And the climb has just begun We’re very glad to know you We’ll miss you when your gone And to the class of 79 We dedicate our Prom. —The Juniors This year’s jr.-sr. prom was held on May 5 in the library with decorations following the theme of Nights in White Satin. Nathan Fields and Peggy Gregory were elected prom king and queen. After prom was held in the commons and in the gym with volleyball, basketball, and ping-pong games going on. Queen Candidates: Kay Belangec, Laurie Bryant, Peggy Gregory, Wendy Jones. King Candidates: Lee Luckey, Bart Miller, Nathan Fields, Rick Welton.
