At Last!!! Sheila Parker’s first response after discovering that she was chosen to reign as CCHS 1978-79 Homecoming Queen was, “Oh, no!. What do I do now?’’ Amid tears and screams of excitement from the crowd, Sheila was crowned during half-time by Toni Thompson, the 77-78 Homecoming Queen. Sheila was escorted to the game on Friday, October 13, by Joe Disney, a close friend and co-worker of Sheila’s at Clinton’s Dairy Queen. For the dance Saturday, October 14, Sheila was escorted by Alan Morris. She was congratulated by a member of the band. Slip Stream, and presented with a gift by Brett Miller, Student Council President. After accepting the gift, Sheila took the opportunity to thank everyone who supported her saying, “Now is when you realize who your friends really are.” Afterwards, Sheila and her escort danced to “Color My World’’ while other students looked on. 13

High Hopes— High Dreams After a month of anxiety, fourteen students were inducted into the Charles Evans Chapter of the National Honor Society. Out of thirty possibilities, only the fourteen were chosen on November 21,1978. Illinois State Representative, Sam Vinson, was a suprise guest speaker who spoke on his memories of CC11S and the honor of becoming a member. Old and new members alike were given the rest of the afternoon off and dinner at Guzzardo's.
